2003 Honda Accord, everything lights up fine but it has a really strange “groaning” noise, kinda quietly. Then after a few tries it starts up perfectly fine. Sometimes it starts up first time, occasionally it starts half way through a groan (though usually when it groans I stop). Here's a video of it, groans twice, starts the third time. I have an 1981 Honda CB750 bike that's been sitting in a garage in Arizona for 5 years. So far I've changed the battery and found all electrical components to be working. The engine isn't seized and the bike cranks, but won't start up. I've worked on cars for a long time but motorcycles are somehow completely foreign to me. Any suggestions?

Shouldn't the starter relay be closed while a car is starting? Why does it open/close frequently when key is turned, making a repeated clicking sound? Does the relay behave this way only in the low battery case or it clicks always while a car is starting, but clicks are not audible due to the working starter noise?

I've just taken my motorcycle out of storage, I rode her around the block once, parked her, and now she is refusing to turn over. The starter seems to be running fine. I've just filled the tank with new fuel, and replaced the oil. Also, the battery is fully charged. During my ride around the block, I felt a few small "bumps" coming from the engine, as if it was struggling to continue to operate. Which potential problems should I look for next? So I had to cease driving in December 2024 for medical reasons. Since its classed as "historic" the insurance is only for named drivers, noone else is covered to drive it. So it has sat inside a garage all summer and all winter. The car in question is a 1973 Land Rover SWB series 3, and it has a Holden 202 cubic inch, 6 cylinder petrol engine. The vehicle has been converted to be dual fuel in the 90's and ran perfectly fine on LPG. Over the last 10 months, I have topped off the battery with a trickle charger every 2 months, and it still reads 12.54 V. I have jacked it up and rotated

Very hot outside. Started car with a/c already on full blast (factor?). Car started shaking, put it in reverse to backup and steering wheel VERY hard to turn and brakes VERY hard to apply. Turned a/c and car off, waited 5 minutes, started it again and drove home with no a/c and no further issues. This has happened before. What is wrong? Help!! And Thank You!!

I appreciate this is a question that can't be answered in facts and figures, so I'm after a general idea. I drive a 1986 Supra, which has a modest 2.8-litre engine. I often shut the engine off while waiting at traffic lights to save fuel, but I'm wondering how much it saves when I have to crank the engine before pulling away. Somewhere along the line, I heard that it took about 30 seconds of idling worth of fuel to start a cold engine (i.e. the same amount of fuel as the engine would burn idling for 30 seconds), and for a hot engine, that drops to around 10 seconds, so I try to shut the engine

I have a 2002 Mazda B3000 (essentially a Ford Ranger) that almost never starts on the first attempt. Usually it takes 2 or 3 tries before the car finally turns over. Each time I hold in the crank I hear the starter engage and the engine whir but the car doesn't start. I've tried cycling the key to iginition on, waiting for a 10 seconds, then back to off several times to try and prime things but that does not seem to help. Today I turned the key to start up my car and all the lights (headlights and instrument panel) came on bright and normal, but the engine made absolutely no sound. It wouldn't start, it didn't even try to crank, it was like it there was no motor at all in it. I sat there for about 10 minutes and tried again, voila! it started without any problems. There wasn't even a lag in the start, it just started up like a brand new car. Before going off to college, I had my car carefully inspected by a trusted mechanic whom I asked to inform me of any major problems. That is to say, the car has none now. A friend wants to sell me a scooter for a very cheap price. It is a Chinese model (Qingqi QM125T-10M). Probably a 125cc machine.
