The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the steering wheel was stiff. While driving at various speeds, the steering wheel was difficult to turn. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the steering shaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.

The hood doesn't stay open. The hood uses two gas struts to be opened and they failed causing the hood to slam into my head and neck. The hood doesn't have a prop up bar which can keep the hood propped open. My car is a 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid with 70,000 miles on it. The hood was opened all the way for 5 minutes before it slammed shut on me.

Steering feels stiff at a certain point while turning. Sometimes its worst and sometimes its showing no problem. No any warning light and 1st time the dealership does not identify what was the issue. After couple of week it was getting worst. So I went again to the dealership and then they said had to replace "intermediate steering shaft". Cost nearly 500-600$.

After continued usage steering becomes stiff and turning becomes very difficult. This then possess a safety risk to not only the driver but other drivers. The cause is failure of the intermediate steering shaft. Steering became very tight and thus the Power Steering had drag in it and needed immediate repairing. We felt compromised and felt it was a Safety issue, which the dealer that I am having repair the problem did not know of other reports of this problem. I was driving down the road on interstate at 70 mph and my 2018 Toyota Camry SE warning message steering power low alarm and one to two seconds later my steering wheel pulled violently to the right barely missing truck in right lane by inches. That gas damper strut on the trunk lid failed, allowing the trunk lid to sprint open dangerously fast. I have been hit in the face with it and also on the top of my head when it rebounds. The car is available for inspection. We will have the car serviced soon and have them confirm the failure. The car/failure has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance or others.

Around 47k miles the steering shaft failed and the vehicle became extremely difficult to steer. The wheel would also not return to center on its own after turning and had to be forced back in order to drive the vehicle straight again. It was almost as if the power steering went out altogether. Any chance someone can tell me what’s going wrong here. I’m used a titan 3/16 double flaring tool and nicopp. It keeps giving me this weird stepped flare. I’m not sure what to call this issue so I didn’t know what to look up. I’m doing my best to get a square cut, then I chamfer the outside with a file and chamfer the inside with a utility knife until there’s no burrs. I’m sort of worried that the screwing motion of the tool is messing with it somehow and instead I need a press tool. What’s weird is I did get one sort of good flare but couldn’t replicate it. Does anyone here have experience with Front Steering and Suspension kits for older cars? [1] I’m helping a friend get a 1966 Mustang he inherited back up and running. The body is in nice condition. Seems like I need to replace the struts and shocks on my 2013 528i xDrive. The shop quoted me a rather large sum for parts and labor, which led me to wonder if I can do this as a DIY project. I have some questions about it that I’m hoping someone on here can answer: When I search for replacement parts and specify my exact vehicle, I don’t seem to get many or any results, depending on the site. But when I drop the xDrive specification and search for just “2013 528i” struts and shocks I get what appears to be a few decent choices.
