Hey guys I idle my car about once a month for 5 minutes to pump up all the tires (my tire inflator draws enough juice the car needs to be on to feed it) and every other month for 10-15 minutes to get rid of bubbles in the coolant from topping off the coolant level (yea I probably got a leak somewhere I’ll get it checked out sooner or later, also I brought up the whole bubble removal thing in a thread long ago). So I had to cease driving in December 2024 for medical reasons. Since its classed as "historic" the insurance is only for named drivers, noone else is covered to drive it. So it has sat inside a garage all summer and all winter. The car in question is a 1973 Land Rover SWB series 3, and it has a Holden 202 cubic inch, 6 cylinder petrol engine. The vehicle has been converted to be dual fuel in the 90's and ran perfectly fine on LPG. A 2000 town car limo was build just in tolerance for the 4.6 engine capability. Even at brand new it would overheat if you push it to hard. It is older and less efficient and it over heat in general if you push it. The question would apply to other engines: Can I move the heater cores meant for warming the vehicle to the front of the car to adding extra cooling power for the engine?

I’m trying to understand why my 2011 civic (8th gen) is generating a p0128 code (coolant temp too low). It’s happened twice, spaced about 7 weeks apart. Neither engine nor cooling system has had recent work, and coolant is at normal level and has not changed level. Both times that the code showed up, the radiator fans were running, and the car had been running for a good while already, so the car seems to have gotten to 210F, which seems to be the trigger temp for the fans. The code seems weird to me because the temp sensor must have been recording the 210F temp in order to trigger the fans, a

2000 Pontiac Montana Van- intake manifold has been replaced along with radiator, water pump, radiator cap and thermostat. When driving van will go to the red line but has never overheated with steam and such coming out of engine. It doesn't show signs of blown head gasket. Radiator and over flow are still full. Service engine light has been on since intake manifold repair. Air has been bled out of system quite a few times. Any help would be appreciated.

I had to take my vehicle to Toyota bc it failed to start. There was an error code that of coolant issue error code and this was reported to the dealership they said that wasn’t the issue and my wires were chewed however I see that there actually is a history of issues with that incident and I wonder if I was given incorrect diagnosis from dealership this costed thousands of dollars from my insurance company and me to fix. Since repair my vehicle has not been the same .

Hi CTC folks. I have a question about pressure-testing a cooling system. My 23 Bronco Sport Badlands has a known issue. The water pumps fail. Anyone with a Bronco Sport lives in fear it will strike them. Some owners have had 5 water pumps, proving Ford never dealt with the underlying issue, but just puts in known-bad water pumps as replacements. My coolant is now a bit under the MIN line when checked according to the manual’s instructions. About a half inch under. I plan to have the system “pressure checked.” Could that pressure test possibly damage other things? The vehicle is 29 months young

Some petrol engines have siamesed bores which can cause overheating problems on land. The gen 1 cast iron small block 400 cid chevy motor is a well known example. Often engine rebuilders prefer making 383 cid with 350 non siamesed bore and 400 crank. Sure the 383 has a good reputation unlike the controversial 400. My question is would siamesed bores be good for marine where lots of cold water is available.

While idling I noticed the temp gauge showing a high reading. I immediately turned off the A.C and rolled down my windows. (It is now called a 455 air conditioner. Four windows down at 55 m.p.h. My coolant level is fine. I thinking maybe a cooling fan is malfunctioning or a sensor. What do you think ? Thanks.

My truck has the 6.8l V10 Triton engine in it. When I got it there was a lot of oil in the cooling system but no water in the oil. It ran hot once but didn't do it again. Would it be the head gasket and how should I clean the cooling system out to get all the oil out of it?

2012 Malibu, 140k. Started about 1-2 months ago. It cranks but doesn’t start. The lights, radio, etc, come on just fine. I replaced the battery first off. The parts shop said the battery was borderline, it was due, so I replaced it. Still having it. Sometimes it starts and runs fine. Sometimes it cranks but doesn’t start. I drive a 97 Honda Accord and just recently started experiencing an issue where while driving, my ignition suddenly shuts off. Sometimes when this happens I’m able to turn the key and get the ignition started right back up while coasting, but usually forces me to coast to the side of the road instead to throw it in park and restart ignition (instantly, no sputtering). We have a Honda Civic Hybrid with 204,000 miles on it. It’s my wife’s car and she commutes fifty miles every day in it. Late last week her IMA (hybrid battery) light came on. Hey! The key to my 2006 Ford Mondeo wont open the hood for some reason… This is particularly bad due to the battery being dead after not being used for a few months. Anyone have any tips to fix this problem? (If its possible to fix) Additional information would be that the key fob usually works around 40% of the time so i resorted to using the manual key mostly, but now the manual key does not turn in the door either, so i’m pretty much hoping that the key fob will work if i want to use my car. Problem began when I would sometimes have to press the push start button several times to get it to start (no crank), progressively got worse until it wouldn’t start. When I would jump it it wouldn’t start right away but eventually it would. Replaced (5 year old) battery), initially still wouldn’t start until jumped. My 2007 Toyota Camry has a 2.4l engine 4 cylinders and it’s at about 197,000 miles. I’ve been going crazy trying to figure out while the engine is vibrating horribly when at a red light and it’s a lot worse with the ac on. I’ve changed motor mounts, checked evap purge valve, cleaned maf sensor, cleaned throttle body, bought an aftermarket pcv valve from advanced auto parts, I even bought a smoke machine from Amazon and smoke tested the evap system and found a easy leak after the maf senso rand sealed it but that didn’t do much. If I open the driver side door on my F-150 while the motor is running the transmission locks in gear and will not let me put it onto park which would allow me to crank it. I can disconnect the battery cables and it will eventually put itself into park and I can crank it. This has been going on for several months. When it first started it would reset in 30 mins or so but now is taking overnight. I’ve not tried it to see if this happens with any other doors bc I don’t want to intentionally make it happen. Hi, I have a 2010 Mazda 6 car. I received a letter for airbag recall. When I dropped my car for service they said it would 1 hr to fix the airbag. Later they called me and said the parts are not available and it would take another 1 month for the parts to arrive. The provided me with an alternative car. They parked my car in an open parking space. When I called after 1 month, they said its an early stage for the recall. They are not sure when the parts will come. At various time the car won’t start. You can hear the starter gear engage but almost instantly disengage. Starter and battery have been replace along with tipem board. The car has been towed 6 times because it won’t start for my wife only to start upon arrival at the repair shop. If you put the ignition in the start position and place the transmission in reverse or neutral, then turn the ignition off and then put the transmission back in park it will start up. I know I’m using the right port. I am not using the high pressure port. And I can not for the life of me fit the hose onto the low pressure port to charge my ac. I pressed the cap down and tried to fit it on the low pressure, I’m doing everything right, and I cant figure out why it wont fit. If I press it down while holding down the lever on the hose I will hear pressure escaping from the port but it wont attach.
