What is with this trope of slating the Mk8 Golfs interior? My wife has had a Mk8 now has a Mk8.5 - the 8 was pretty poor, but the 8.5 actually has a very lovely interior for the class and the infotainment is nice to use. Just seems like lazy journalism.. I’m almost certain PH have praised the exact same infotainment on other reviews.

Had several Golfs before and for a modern car (compared to the sort of stuff we like from the past) its actually a good daily. Pretty fast when you want it to be and quite decent handling. Would prefer not to have the large screen but its easy enough to use. Got the leather seats which lift the cabin a bit. Would like to drive a 50 to see how it differs but wouldn t shell out all that money on one. Wife has just got an 8.5R and its nice enough but prefer mine to drive as a bit more involving. Not had black wheels on a car before but it works OK against the moonstone grey I think. I had pretty much the same experience with a mk7,5 Golf R. Thought it was the car for me to upgrade space compared to a Fiesta ST. Found it boring and inert to drive. Tried a Leon Cupra 300 (TCR in drag) and enjpyed it as you needed to manage your left foot, not just plant it. Kept for 2 and a bit years and was faultless but then couldn't resist the temptation of the GR Yaris which is fabulous if somewhat less practical than the Cupra

How did we get to the point that something like that is put into production by a major brand like VW?I realise it's not entirely exceptional. But history won't be kind to this era of taken-on tablets. They'll look incredibly dated and tacky once the fashion passes. It's not fashion, it's just cheap and lazy cost cutting on the part of VW (and most other brands). I can't believe anyone wants that crap in their car. I'm going to be in trouble when I need to replace the family bus unless I can find something

Local dealer matched DtD.According to the BoE inflation calculator, that's a shade under 40 grand today.

In a multi story that I was using earlier this evening, the MOT ran out in May 24. I do find the car park ones odd, I've seen other seemingly abandoned cars in other car parks, I'd love to know the reasons.

A somewhat unbalanced duo which is acknowledged from the start in this head to head. I would never put these two on the same page and i found myself unpicking the Porsche rather than comparing it to the Morgan. Despite the indifferences the 911 wins out.

I got the make and basic model in three - not Cardle's answer though. Ironically I intended to type in Challenger but ended up typing Charger for some reason - so I got it right by default!

If its styling fuses a little 6GT with a little 720S, I can't see it going far wrong.Building an SUV is a sad but perhaps necessary evil. Performance manufacturers should really look at a different set of priorities to luxury marques. A McLaren, Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche, or even Bentley SUV should be something that could conceivably win a race. Make the body low and wide, and if it has to be jacked up, make it jacked up for sand dunes and mud pits, not Kensington kerbs and speedbumps. Most importantly, make it weigh less! Else there's no S about it, it's just a big fat squishy UV.
