I’m currently laid up at home after an op and have just gone through this thread from start to finish. What a fantastic collection of cars and the way you approach the running and upkeep of them makes for fascinating reading. I also have a particular soft spot for English bull terriers so any shot of Frank is a highlight too...

I absolutely loved the V8 4.8 naturally aspirated engine that was in my old X5 4.8iS, so I definitely have a soft spot for this. Plus I loved that you could get these with a manual too.

I've been watching Pete's Garage on YouTube and the guy is absolutely amazing and very enlightening on the subject. He has at least one video on engine painting but he mentions it in a number of other videos. However, he doesn't really expound on why an engine should be painted. What are the benefits of painting an engine? For example, my Tacoma has an aluminum block and aluminum heads but they are not painted. Why are some other engines painted?

96년식 머스탱 GT, 4.6L V8 엔진. 몇 개월 전 과열 사건 후(히터 호스 피팅이 카본 파이버 인테이크 매니폴드에서 빠짐 - 수리 완료) 엔진 오일 경고등 점등. 오일 레벨이 매우 낮아 디프스틱에 거의 표시 안 됨. 2.5쿼트 보충하여 풀 마크까지 올림. 엔진은 정상 작동하고 과열 문제 없음. 다음날 조금 운행 후 문제 재발.

2012 혼다 시빅(주행거리 약 36,000마일)을 최근 구매했는데, 에어컨에서 간헐적으로 신나 또는 매직마카 냄새가 난다. 냄새는 달콤한 냄새(부동액)나 곰팡이 냄새가 아니다. 에어컨이 실내공기를 재순환할 때 특히 냄새가 나는 것 같다. 냄새가 나기 전에 감압음(hissing sound)이 들리고, 곧 사라진다.

중고 하이브리드 링컨 MKZ(70,000마일)를 구매 검토 중. 제조사 8년/100,000마일 하이브리드 시스템 보증이 2019년까지 유효한지 확인 필요. 하이브리드 배터리 팩 교체 비용이 $2,500 이상 + 공임이 소요된다는 정보 확인. 배터리 팩의 남은 수명을 진단할 방법이 있는지, 없다면 예산 계획에 교체 비용을 어느 정도 반영해야 하는지 문의.

배터리 교환

혼다 시빅 2007년식에서 키를 삽입하면 회로를 시작하고 키를 제거하면 꺼지도록 하려고 함. ACC 위치까지 기다리지 않고 키 삽입 시점에 12V 전원이 필요함.

2001 렉서스 IS200이 10만 km에 도달하려고 하며, 엔진오일, 오일필터, 에어필터, 캐빈필터를 교환할 예정입니다. 스페인 휘발유를 사용해왔는데 이 시점에 연료필터 교환이 필요한지 확인하려고 합니다. 렉서스의 정비 권장사항을 찾을 수 없었습니다.

2001 Toyota Tacoma이 시동이 걸리지 않음. 새 배터리(3개월 사용, 완전 충전 상태, 12.8V)가 장착되어 있음. 키를 돌리면 모든 전기가 차단되고 대시보드 2개 라이트만 작동. 포터블 점프스타터로 연결하면 정상 시동됨. 배터리 연결 불량 의심.

2001 Corsa Milenium (GM 8V 1.0 MPFI 엔진)에서 감속 또는 엔진 브레이킹 시 배기 백파이어(폭발음) 발생. 성능형 에어 필터와 성능형 배기시스템 장착 상태.
