I am writing this to complain about the 8 speed automatic transmission! My car’s tranny went out at 68,500 miles 4 MONTHS AGO. To this day, it’s still drivable but I worry any day now it will give out. I have been quoted staggering prices from 5.5k to 9k! No warning lights which was also surprising. The problem first started when I heard gear grinding sound coming front underneath the front end when decelerating. I am very upset as these seems like an issue where thousands of customers are experiencing transmission issues ranging from jerks to slipping. And the worst part is Toyota won’t do an

Heard a whining noise and brought to the dealer. They said my 2018 Camry SE with 78,000 miles needs a new transmission. The transmission is on a national back order. Toyota has a TSB out for the same model year Sienna and Highlander but will not acknowledge there is an issue with the Camry.

My 2018 Toyota Camry with 132,000 started experiencing transmission issues in the last 10,000 miles or so - with hesitation in shifting. Now at 132,000 my transmission has officially fully failed. Upon bringing it to a reputable transmission repair shop, I learned that the repair would cost me over $8000 between parts (hard to find) and labor. This is wild as I expected a Toyota to last up and over 200k miles easily. This has absolutely tarnished my views on Toyota reliability! I even called corporate and they were absolutely no help!

It started to make whining noise while accelerating. The noise is coming from transmission. Also, periodic erratic gear changes have started to occur. Mechanic says it is a known problem with 2018 and 2019 Camry that transmission fails and makes noises prior to failing.

In short: I had a whining noise coming from under my hood, my car was changing gears roughly. When I was driving on I-95 N and my car lost power/ the ability to accelerate on the highway. I had to make my way to the far-right lane and exit the highway. My safety was at risk at this point (no warning lights came on my dashboard). My car lost the ability to drive. I had my car towed to the Toyota dealership. The mechanic recorded a video of my car giving details of the issue (I have the video). My transmission needs to be replaced (internal failure noted by the mechanic), and my car has yet to r

My vehicle has always been jerky, lagging to accelerate, limp, giving the shift solenoid code error.

* My transmission failed. * The transmission started to slip when on the highway. * I called Toyota and told them about it. I had it serviced at the Toyota Dealership and was told that the transmission had internal problems and needed to be replaced. * No, I actually just got it service a week prior and everything was fine.

I bought this car used with about 100k miles, took it for a test drive around the block at the local dealership and didn't hear anything at the time. When I took it on the freeway for the first time I heard the Whining noise. It only happens when there is a load on the transmission and gets louder as the speed increases. On top of that, it seems like it starts out in second or third gear sometimes I can't move until it downshifts which is extremely dangerous considering I've been sticking out in the street and other cars are coming! This apparently was a new design starting in 2018 and many p

The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that while driving at 15 MPH, while attempting to depress the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was towed to dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The transmission was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified on the failure but offered no assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 118,000.

I am reporting a complete" transmission failure on my 2018 Toyota Camry (2.5L Gas, UB80E 8-speed). The vehicle suddenly failed to engage 'Drive' or 'Reverse' properly. Even after a professional fluid service at a transmission is stuck in a 'limp mode' or high gear, requiring high RPMs just to move slowly. This is a well-documented issue among 2018 Camry owners involving harsh shifting and premature internal failure. Toyota refuses to provide a reasonable repair option, only offering a full replacement at an exorbitant cost ($5,000+), despite this being a known manufacturing defect in the U

I began noticing louder noises coming from my Camry over the last couple months. The car started jerking forward more, stalling and hesitating to pick up speed, and I became increasingly concerned about my ability to control the car. Took the car in on Tuesday February 24th for a routine oil change at suburban Toyota of Troy and I informed them of the issue. Completed oil changed and They informed me that transmission fluid looked good, we just flushed it last year, and there was nothing they could notice right away wrong. They said they initially could not detect a problem but eventually noti

My transmission is slipping / hesitating / delay shifting. I have always had it serviced on time and taken very good care of it. I even went and had the fluid flushed & refreshed and it is still happening. It makes driving unpredictable and makes me feel extremely unsafe in my car. There aren’t any lights on, on my dashboard. It has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance.

I drive a 2004 Ford Ranger, which I’ve had for the life of the truck. For a few years, I’ve had the CEL on more often than not, usually for codes related to oxygen sensors and cat converter. I’ve taken the truck to a couple of shops and had O2 sensors replaced (repeatedly), but the CEL has come back on within a few days. I’m not at all experienced with auto-work, but I’ve been trying to pick up some new skills (in the interest of not going broke). So, aside from the shops doing their work, I’ve personally replaced a couple of O2 sensors, one catalytic converter, fuel filter, plugs, etc. Betwee

WHEN ACCELERATING FROM DEAD STOP IN A RIGHT HAND TURN UP-HILL CAR IS SLOW TO MOVE FORWARD REQUIRING MORE PRESSURE ON GAS PEDAL, THEN TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO BE HUNTING FOR RIGHT GEAR CAUSING A JERKY MOTION.

My wife’s car is a 2007 Corolla. She told me the car is making a noise that sounds like a shifting bag of rice. I rode in the car and we stopped at the end of the street and then started into a left-handed u-turn and it sounded to me like we ran over some light gravel/sand on the right-front, but we didn’t - that was the sound. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Happens when giving it gas while going into a sharp turn - either direction. She’s not sure that it happens 100% every time, but it does happen regularly. Hoping someone else here has experienced this sound before and can tell me what it is. Thank you

This is in regard to a 1993 Dodge Shadow with a 2.5L engine and 3-speed automatic transmission. When the engine is running, the transmission fluid leaks between the engine and transmission. Is there a replaceable seal, or does the torque converter itself need to be replaced? Once the motor and transmission are pulled, is it very difficult to remove and reinstall a torque converter onto a transmission? E.g. alignment.

Hi all, These are the issues of a Maserati 1990 (Quattroporte) 422, 2000 SL.6 cylinders, fule injection. The car lives in Greece, and is in pristine condition. 1) The rpms go up when the engine is idle (no gear?) e.g when you stop at a light. Apparently this is an unexpected behavior. Could you give me a list of possible reasons? 2)When we start the car and/or go from 1st to 2nd gear, the engine doesn’t “fire” right away. There is a lag, as if the car stops. Thanks Vasso

When the temp drops below 28 degrees , my manual transmission in my Plymouth Laser 1992 (same as Eclipse) will refuse to shift into reverse. It just feels sloggy , stuck ( other gears work fine) . Now if the sun is out and the cabin itself warms up, the transmission will shift in reverse if the outside is below 28 degrees which seems to tell me the problem is in the linkage with the actual hand stick. Can this be repaired? When I described this to my mechanic , he said you have to replace the transmissin. After 33 years , can't this be a lubrication issue ( I changed the tranny fluid with synt

My 2005 Buick Century with 353k miles gets a recurring P0420 code, catalytic converter operating below efficiency level. Twice this year, I tried using Cataclean, but with no success. I noticed a small hole in my muffler at the seam. Could a lack of exhaust back pressure cause the CC to operate inefficiently or improperly? Can anyone recommend a catalytic converter cleaner? Or, is it all snake oil?

I need your opinion for a bud. About five months ago, I took my 2014 Jeep Cherokee to a mechanic I hadn’t used before (I’m new to the area). They told me the transmission needed to be replaced. They said they sourced one from a parts dealer and that several other components had to be removed or replaced to install it. The total came to a little over $4,000. Since then, I’ve barely driven it due to health issues. Last week, I tried to go to church. When I shifted into reverse, it was very rough—just like before the replacement. Then I put it in drive and it got stuck in neutral. I called the sh

Hi all, I am new here and have a question. About 3 weeks ago, I purchased a 2003 Honda Civic EX Coupe, automatic transmission with 131,000 on it. I took it to my mechanic before purchasing it and he said it looked good. The test drive didn’t reveal any problems. A few days into owning it, however, I noticed this screeching noise but it didn’t happen all the time. When it happened, I was always taking off from an intersection or pulling out of a parking lot - never when I was just driving down the road or on startup. The mechanic couldn’t get the noise to happen but inspected the belts and said

The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed, however the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact stated that the vehicle's speed slowly reached 20 MHP. In addition, the contact stated that while driving, the accelerator pedal was depressed, and the vehicle lost motive power and seized. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed transmission. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired.
