So pretty much my Honda civic from 05 has been having cooling issues and I've done some work on the vehicle in attempts to fix the issue; I've replaced the entire engine, replaced both the radiator and fans, leak tested the system and have gone through 3 thermostats none of which have stuck. Though every time right before the engine begins to overheat the overflow reservoir coolant seems to have lightly spray out, I have never witnessed this actually happen but when I do pop the hood after the gauge seems higher than usual there is drops of coolant on the fan and the engine. Coworker has a 2008 Hyundai Accent, which has overheated repeatedly, consumes a lot of coolant, and barely runs. He wants me to assist with repairing the engine, if possible. I assume by now, the head is warped or cracked, but what I am trying to determine is if the engine block in this model is iron or aluminum. If it’s iron, this can probably be repaired. If it’s aluminum, the entire engine would need to be replaced, which is more work than I would want to do.

This morning my power steering stopped working and my heater and when I opened the hood there was coolant everywhere, looked like it came out of the radiator cap. The serpentine belt was off the lowest pulley and when I tried to put it back on I realized that pulley wasn't in line with the others, was not possible to put belt on. What would cause the pulley to move so far out of alignment and how can I fix it. Is this what's causing the other problems? It was below zero degrees last night and no garage.

My daughters low mileage RAV4 transmission fluid recently turned black. I check the fluid once a month, went from pink and sweet normal odor to black and no odor. No over heating, no codes, no driveability problems. We took it to a local shop and he is puzzled. The computer is not showing any overheating and the fluid does not smell burned. The shop drained and refilled the fluid, asked us to come back in 200 miles and he will drain again.(no charge for the second drain/refill) Anybody have any ideas on what might be happening?

I have recently bought a 2005 Grand Prix V6 non supercharged. It overheats at idle and in park. I have had my head gasket and head resurfaced at Pepboys and replaced my radiator with a larger 1 inch thick radiator. The thermostat was also with a new OEM one. Bled and burped my cooling system. No leaks anywhere. Bypassed the heater and capped the hosses. The car still wants to climb to the red. It has Dextron 50/50 and has been flushed. Both fans kick on with a good amount of breeze. How can I troubleshoot my cooling system to discover what the issue might be with the continued overheating?

Hey guys I idle my car about once a month for 5 minutes to pump up all the tires (my tire inflator draws enough juice the car needs to be on to feed it) and every other month for 10-15 minutes to get rid of bubbles in the coolant from topping off the coolant level (yea I probably got a leak somewhere I’ll get it checked out sooner or later, also I brought up the whole bubble removal thing in a thread long ago). I’m guessing this is completely negligible with regard to incomplete combustion working its bad voodoo magic against my car. Correct? Does idling do less damage to the car if the engine

My cooling system is quite nasty and needs a flush. I followed instructions on radiator flush, which said to run the car no more than an hour. However few tutorial videos online suggest running radiator flush for few hundred kilometers. Understandably bottle instructions are more reliable source to follow but what happens when you run it for too long?

First let me state I've been an Auto Tech since about 1967, so this is kicking my butt. I've replaced the water pump, radiator, lower hose, thermostat, fan sensor, coolant sender, engine temperature sensor, I've checked it for a head gasket breach (fluid stayed blue), I've bled the air out from every place I could find but feel there is still a pocket of air in the system. This is my girlfriend's car so right now I look like a real idiot.....please someone help me....(I don't look good with egg on my face).....(oh, and I've sprung for all the parts so far....this is getting expensive....HELP!)

Hi CTC folks. I have a question about pressure-testing a cooling system. My 23 Bronco Sport Badlands has a known issue. The water pumps fail. Anyone with a Bronco Sport lives in fear it will strike them. Some owners have had 5 water pumps, proving Ford never dealt with the underlying issue, but just puts in known-bad water pumps as replacements. My coolant is now a bit under the MIN line when checked according to the manual’s instructions. About a half inch under. I plan to have the system “pressure checked.” Could that pressure test possibly damage other things? The vehicle is 29 months young

Any suggestions on how to fix the radiator fans on my 99 Grand Am. Both fans don't even kick on after I turn on the ac like they did before. I replace the coolant tank all hose just replace the coolant temps sensor and all the fuses are good. I ran a power source to the fans and they worked fine.

A 2000 town car limo was build just in tolerance for the 4.6 engine capability. Even at brand new it would overheat if you push it to hard. It is older and less efficient and it over heat in general if you push it. The question would apply to other engines: Can I move the heater cores meant for warming the vehicle to the front of the car to adding extra cooling power for the engine?

2000 Pontiac Montana Van- intake manifold has been replaced along with radiator, water pump, radiator cap and thermostat. When driving van will go to the red line but has never overheated with steam and such coming out of engine. It doesn't show signs of blown head gasket. Radiator and over flow are still full. Service engine light has been on since intake manifold repair. Air has been bled out of system quite a few times. Any help would be appreciated.

I paid off my var in June. By the ed of august my cars engine started going bad out of no where. started with oil and coolant mixing into the engine and then transmission started whining. Some petrol engines have siamesed bores which can cause overheating problems on land. The gen 1 cast iron small block 400 cid chevy motor is a well known example. Often engine rebuilders prefer making 383 cid with 350 non siamesed bore and 400 crank. Sure the 383 has a good reputation unlike the controversial 400. My question is would siamesed bores be good for marine where lots of cold water is available.

Been a long day. Im not good at putting pictures on here. So ill try again. This is on my 89 year old moms ford explorer.its a 2012 she bought new. 3.5 engine. All work has been done at the local Ford dealer. 75k miles. I looked it over and decided to check the air filters and a few other things. I noticed the coolant looks pink, it should be orange. She has ever receipt from the dealer service. Its never had any work done involving coolant. Just tire rotation and oil changes. Sad to say she’s never even had them change the air filters. I have a 2003 Chrysler GT, PT Cruiser with less then 60000 miles. It is a four cylinder 2.4L, that is turbo charged, and is automatic. I had a hole in the over flow tank and had it replaced with a new one. When I got it back from my mechanic it seemed ok. About a week later I took the radiator cap off and found a light brown milky substance in the radiator. No water in the engine oil. The temperature gauge never showed that the car ever got hot. Working on an overheating issue on my 2008 Mustang GT. Car starts normally after sitting all night and fan starts up when I click on the AC. Let the car run (or drive it in traffic) and as soon as the needle gets to normal the fan shuts down. this of course causes the radiator to start heating up shutting down my AC before going in the RED. I immediately turn on the heater with fans on high and temp starts retreat towards normal. 3 fans later it is doing the same thing. My truck has the 6.8l V10 Triton engine in it. When I got it there was a lot of oil in the cooling system but no water in the oil. It ran hot once but didn't do it again. Would it be the head gasket and how should I clean the cooling system out to get all the oil out of it?
