As others have said.A. You won't lose your NCD & even if you did you would be surprised how little difference it would actually make, it is not like you get 60% off or similar. Been there twice.B. The great majority of decent "approved" repairers will ask the question (or you can obviously) whether you need a car for the time the car is in for repair. They generally charge either nothing or just ask that you replace the fuel you use. Been there twice also obviously.

All done remotely - book a car, walk up with the app and drive off. Currently sitting in my office, there are 19 vehicles available right now within in walking distance.
