정비 사례

2003 Volkswagen Jetta, 110,000마일에서 간헐적 시동 불가 증상 발생. 엔진은 회전하지만 시동이 걸리지 않음 (점화 케이블 불량 상황과 유사). 몇 개월 전 점화 케이블, 스파크 플러그, 점화 코일 교체함. 3번 수리 시도했으나 지속적인 해결책 없음. 정비소 진단 결과 간헐적 단락 코드 및 산소 센서 불량 발견. 산소 센서 교체했으나 2주 후 시동 불가 증상 재발생.

06 GMC Z71 프론트 브레이크 패드 교체 후 브레이크 완전 손실. 페달이 스펀지처럼 부드러움. 여러 번 에어 빼기(블리딩) 시도해도 페달 감촉 회복 안 됨. 정비사가 마스터 실린더 교체해도 문제 지속. 페달이 내려오지 않음. 브레이크 부스터 분리 시 에어가 폭발적으로 분사됨.

연료 교환 후 자동차가 조용해지고 시동이 꺼짐. 연료가 물 같은 느낌이 들고 연료 캡 근처에서 분무됨. 물이 섞인 휘발유(watered down gas) 사용 가능성.

브레이크 패드 교환

2002 포드 토러스. 대시의 주차브레이크(E-brake) 경고등이 계속 켜짐. 주차브레이크 페달 스위치 확인했고 정상 작동. 마스터 실린더 아래의 액압 센서를 분리했을 때 경고등이 꺼짐. 새 센서 교체 후 경고등 다시 켜짐. 우측 후미 드럼브레이크의 휠 실린더에서 아주 미세한 누유 발견, 교체 및 에어 빼기 완료해도 경고등 여전히 켜짐. 중간~강한 페달 압력 유지 시 페달이 천천히 내려가지만 바닥까지 닿지 않음. 누유 없음, 액압 액체 레벨 정상.

후륜 드럼 브레이크 교체 후 약 1개월 경과. 저속 주행 시 우측 후륜에서 딱딱거리는 소음 발생. 드럼 분해 검사 결과 앞쪽 좌측 슈 리테이닝 클립이 상당한 손가락 힘으로 움직임 가능하지만, 다른 슈는 같은 정도의 움직임이 없음.

장시간 가파른 언덕을 자동변속기 차량으로 시속 40마일로 올라가던 중 D에서 N으로 시프트하면 엔진이 4-5천 RPM까지 올라감. 변속기가 분리되면서 속도가 떨어지고 엔진이 고음으로 울림. 다시 D로 시프트할 때 큰 충격 발생. 이를 여러 번 반복한 후 변속기가 거칠게 시프트되고, 기어 사이에서 플레어(RPM 상승)가 발생하며 때때로 기어 변속을 놓치는 현상 발생.

It has been done but I'm a stickler for keeping things original and it isn't really a car for driving quickly in anyway, I don't think. You can't beat that tin can lightness of older French cars. I've got a 20 year old 987 S for when something needs to be taken by the scruff on the neck. That's taxed all year round too so gets a bit more action than this one does.

I started a new job just over 2 months ago which requires 2-3 days a week in the office, I've ended up buying two different cars for the purpose of commuting and long story short both have been a disaster. Providing that it's in continual use, hasn't had a gap of more than 3 months (change of ownership for example) then they can keep using the old kit.

It's a car that you take in the scenery with, can waft along with your thoughts. I've had one for nearly three years, replacing a 1990 964 Carrera 2. That was a great car, but I fancied something a bit quicker but wouldn't touch a non turbo car with all the potential engine dramas.
