TRANSMISSION: WHEN ACCELERATING HARD, SUCH AS ON AN ON RAMP, MY SPEED ONLY INCREASES SLIGHTLY WHILE THE ENGINE REVS TO 5000+ RPMS. I LET OFF THE GAS & THEN IT SHIFTS AND SPEEDS UP. THE 8 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT ON HARD ACCELERATION UNTIL I LET OFF THE GAS PEDAL. THIS IS CONSISTENT AND I BELIEVE, A SAFETY HAZARD. CRUISE CONTROL: THIS SYSTEM HAS WHAT TOYOTA CALLS A SAFETY FEATURE THAT AUTOMATICALLY SLOWS THE CAR IF IT THINKS THE VEHICLE OR OBJECT AHEAD IS TOO CLOSE. I have a 2014 Chrysler Town and Country with 76K miles. The transmission works properly most of the time. No problems shifting through the gears. Usually OK from stationary into reverse or forwrd gears. Except, occasionally, there is a jarring clunk into first gear. After the jolt, everything is OK. I haven’t been able to determine any pattern to when it occurs-it seems pretty random. Of course, I can’t check the transmission fluid as there is no dipstick and access under the vehicle is limited. Has anyone had a similar issue or have an idea of how big of a problem this might become?

I JUST BOUGHT MY CAR AND THE TRANSMISSION JERKS AND IS REALLY BAD. DEALER SAID HE'S AWARE BUY TOYOTA ISNT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT AND IT PASSES THE SOFTWARE TESTS. HESITATION AND MAJOR JERK WHEN ACCELERATING AT LOW MPH FROM A ROLLING STOP. TSB #T-SB-0152-19_REV SHOULD BE APPLIED TO PRACTICALLY EVERY CAMRY FROM 2018 & 2019. MY WIFE'S 2018 CAMRY ROLLED AWAY DOWN OUR DRIVEWAY WHILE THE SHIFTER WAS IN PARK. IT'S GOT 33K MILES ON IT. ON THE WAY DOWN THE HILL, IT CLEARLY ENGAGED THE PARKING PIN BECAUSE IT DRUG THE FRONT WHEELS 10 OR SO FEET BEFORE HITTING MY NEIGHBORS HOUSE. THE CAR WAS RUNNING, I HOPPED OUT AFTER PUTTING IT IN PARK AND ALL FOUR DOORS UNLOCKED. The car hesitates while driving different speeds and kicks in almost like the transmission is slipping I have taken it in to the local dealership and they continue to tell me that everything is fine, they have done what they call a software update stating that it should fix it but it has not, there are no open recalls for the vin number but its an on going issue.

Vehicle hesitates/jerks at low speeds, rolling stop (low mph) when initially pressing accelerator will jerk/hesitate/take a breath before dropping into gear. This is a KNOWN issue that Toyota has thus far selectively chosen which engine codes they will repair. It is clear, on this website alone, that this issue is universal. Technical Service Bulletin T-SB-0152-19 REV1 should be available to all Toyota Camry owners immediately. This needs to be recalled.

The transmission shutters very badly which makes it difficult to merge onto the freeway. It will clunk into drive at times. It also makes a whining noise when speeding up before shifting. I have a 2021 Camry as well and it is much much smoother and has none of the same problems like my 18

Transmission shifts absolutely terrible hunts for gears constantly. It’ll clunk going from drive to park. The vehicle hesitates for more than a couple seconds sometimes when merging on the freeway making it dangerous when trying to get on. Toyota needs to recall these transmission and put the ones they fixed in

Purchased this 2018 Toyota Camry SE from DCH Wappingers Falls Toyota as a "Certified Pre-owned Vehicle". During early periods of ownership, the transmission noticeably experienced hard, jerking shifts during acceleration and de-acceleration between the first several gears of this 8-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle was brought back to the selling Toyota dealer where they said the transmission's performance was within spec and this was "normal" for this transmission. Toyota Camry 2018 SE - 8-speed automatic transmission fails to engage properly when leaving stoplight or making slow turn from highway. Left stoplight and made left turn at next intersection where transmission failed to engage and vehicle stopped moving (engine remained on but transmission disengaged). Transmission issues car will not accelerate and then will abruptly speed up. The vehicle will stall at 15 mph and then shift and shake. The safety of driver put at risk while on the road because the car would go from 15 mph to 40 mph and traffic following behind could potentially rear end vehicle. I started getting weird shifting and hesitation I had around 70,000 miles took it to my local Toyota dealership, they completed several software updates. Also did a transmission fluid change that didn’t really resolve the problem now at about 113,000 miles I started getting odd shifting, and at higher speeds, when accelerating abruptly, the vehicle put itself in limp mode and will not accelerate further. 2012 Jeep Compav compass I noticed a persistent squealing coming from thr front end of my car (I think the front left). It happens when I have my foot on the accelerator and over 40-45 mph. It stops when I let my foot off the gas, and only occurs under load. This alone would take me to the engine, but it responds to me turning the wheel. It gets louder when turning right and quieter when left. It also stops when I let off gas. My original thought was brakes, but I wanted to see if the community had an idea. Thanks!

The transmission stopped working at approx 78,000 miles. The car completely died while driving with my children in the car. The tech said the fluid was black and there was no apparent cause of the transmission damage.

Transmission has not been right since purchase, complaints were left unaddressed until the complete failure of the transmission, of course out of warranty. This is a safety hazard, as well as Toyota offering no type of assistance.

The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V890000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The Shifting solenoid malfunctioned, burned up transmission and created a hazard on the roadway in high traffic areas. Vehicle stalled creating a backup in traffic and myself almost got rear ended. The Red McCombs Toyota did confirm it was a solenoid malfunction through a phone call and video. They concluded that the car is not operable. The problem has been inspected and was advised to pay a hefty fee of nearly $10,000. Prior to the failure no lights or warnings were provided by the car’s electrical system not until I parked and restarted the car that the lamps turned on after the failure.
