I'm sure it won't look like it but this post represents over 2 months of hard graft, plenty of 1am finishes in the garage. Everything takes me ages when I'm fabricating stuff.Getting these Mclaren charge coolers in was going to be a huge job, it felt a bit like I'd built everything around the old Mercedes charge coolers. There were a few compromises made when I fitted the G25 turbos the last time around, intake pipe into the boot (with no filter), the wastegates were in an awful position for access and I was stuck with screamer pipes when I'd rather feed back into the exhaust. I decided to st
I've been busy working on the Boxster for the last few months. I've been making improvements. One of the things I thought needed improvement was the exhaust system, I was using Ferrari 458 silencers, at the narrowest point the exhaust was only 2.3" (60mm). I've got lofty expectations when it comes to power so I wanted to improve this as it'd be restrictive. I was browsing eBay and came across an interesting looking exhaust. What's it come off?Aston Martin Valour, these cost 1.5 million. It was being sold by an Aston Martin specialist. They'd said it was 7k to buy from AM. I rang up my local dealer to find out what it was made from (just stainless steel) and asked for a price, he said the system didn't have a price, he'd need to let the factory know the chassis number of my Valour and the reason for needing it before he'd be able to find out the price. There's not much chance of finding another one. It was quite expensive and considering I wasn't sure I'd be able to actually fit it, it was a gamble but I thought it looked too cool to pass up on. The outside pipes are straight through when the valves are open. When they are closed all the gasses go through the smaller pipes and the whole silencer is just for them and they come out of the middle exhaust. The diameter on the larger pipes is 2.75" (70mm), a 35% increase in flow area. I've also decided to have the external wastegates venting to atmosphere rather than feed back into the exhaust so that should improve things further. With this exhaust being straight through with the valves open and the screamer pipes I think it's safe to say track days are over. I made up some new downpipes, these are 3", up from 2.5"The original (and my old Ferrari exhaust) where bolted to the gearbox To make this fit I had to make exhaust mounts that sit on the rear crash bar mounts. I had to cut a section out of the rear crash bar and I then had to reinforce that to put the strength back in. My rear toe eye has been used more often than

However, quickly arrive behind a snail-moving vehicle. Country lane, but quite wide and easy to make progress. Except we have the brake lights in front sending out Morse Code signals; applies them for almost everything (or imagined). Next, traffic lights, stops, and then turns left, no signal, and snail acceleration; we've still got the Morse Code signals going. We proceed like this, at about half the speed the road is capable of, for about
Hope this is in the right place. I couldn't see another location that fitted this tbh. Hello All,Project here with, well, my project. I know a lot of you like a build thread so I'm bringing you one with a slight difference. It's much bigger than you will be used to. And not because I'm trying to push a Merlin engine into a Lamborghini SV. It's because it weighs 12 tons, has four wheel drive and locking diffs and will eventually go around the world (hopefully). Sadly it will only 56mph, but 15mpg to the gallon it won't feel far off the usual pistonhead fill up experience The idea is to take a m

Wouldn t feel too secure parking in a city.Good photos of the scenery - 911 going through a puddle! I had look back at the photos to see what you meant, I’d seen the pic but not noticed the puddle, I was far to interested in the Morgan peeping around behind the 911. A lovely looking thing, it would be my choice and I’ve always been a 911 fan.

It was fitted this week and overall sounds good but something isn't quite right and reading up tonight, hopefully, some adjustments will improve the situation! It certainly looks good! These "bypass" pipes (assuming they're not Helmholtz resonators) look like a Gundo hack type arrangement to increase noise levels. The whole system looks somewhat poorly conceived, overly complex in its Mk2 guise, and poorly executed, to th
