The issue for these people is that their ability to buy new ice ends after 2030 which is just forcing these people into something they do not want. That trickles down to the second hand economics of those who enjoy ice too because the prices of desirable ones goes up as well. They simply get priced out of doing something they enjoy. The government has always hated the motoring enthusiast anyway so I am not surprised. Sure ban average Joe from driving a ICE KIA picanto and replace it with an electric motor because these are just A-B machines but leave the manufacturers some wiggle room to produce sporty and fun ICE cars to a degree which in the grand scheme of things will not make an ounce of difference to climate change.

Because aerodynamic drag increases with the square of the speed, overcoming it draws a lot of sustained current, thereby generating a lot of heat in the battery and related components, hence the need to limit top speed in EVs to protect them and also preserve the vehicle's range.
