This morning my power steering stopped working and my heater and when I opened the hood there was coolant everywhere, looked like it came out of the radiator cap. The serpentine belt was off the lowest pulley and when I tried to put it back on I realized that pulley wasn't in line with the others, was not possible to put belt on. What would cause the pulley to move so far out of alignment and how can I fix it. Is this what's causing the other problems? It was below zero degrees last night and no garage.

I have recently bought a 2005 Grand Prix V6 non supercharged. It overheats at idle and in park. I have had my head gasket and head resurfaced at Pepboys and replaced my radiator with a larger 1 inch thick radiator. The thermostat was also with a new OEM one. Bled and burped my cooling system. No leaks anywhere. Bypassed the heater and capped the hosses. The car still wants to climb to the red. It has Dextron 50/50 and has been flushed. Both fans kick on with a good amount of breeze. How can I troubleshoot my cooling system to discover what the issue might be with the continued overheating?

My cooling system is quite nasty and needs a flush. I followed instructions on radiator flush, which said to run the car no more than an hour. However few tutorial videos online suggest running radiator flush for few hundred kilometers. Understandably bottle instructions are more reliable source to follow but what happens when you run it for too long?

First let me state I've been an Auto Tech since about 1967, so this is kicking my butt. I've replaced the water pump, radiator, lower hose, thermostat, fan sensor, coolant sender, engine temperature sensor, I've checked it for a head gasket breach (fluid stayed blue), I've bled the air out from every place I could find but feel there is still a pocket of air in the system. This is my girlfriend's car so right now I look like a real idiot.....please someone help me....(I don't look good with egg on my face).....(oh, and I've sprung for all the parts so far....this is getting expensive....HELP!)

Any suggestions on how to fix the radiator fans on my 99 Grand Am. Both fans don't even kick on after I turn on the ac like they did before. I replace the coolant tank all hose just replace the coolant temps sensor and all the fuses are good. I ran a power source to the fans and they worked fine.

A 2000 town car limo was build just in tolerance for the 4.6 engine capability. Even at brand new it would overheat if you push it to hard. It is older and less efficient and it over heat in general if you push it. The question would apply to other engines: Can I move the heater cores meant for warming the vehicle to the front of the car to adding extra cooling power for the engine?

2000 Pontiac Montana Van- intake manifold has been replaced along with radiator, water pump, radiator cap and thermostat. When driving van will go to the red line but has never overheated with steam and such coming out of engine. It doesn't show signs of blown head gasket. Radiator and over flow are still full. Service engine light has been on since intake manifold repair. Air has been bled out of system quite a few times. Any help would be appreciated.

Some petrol engines have siamesed bores which can cause overheating problems on land. The gen 1 cast iron small block 400 cid chevy motor is a well known example. Often engine rebuilders prefer making 383 cid with 350 non siamesed bore and 400 crank. Sure the 383 has a good reputation unlike the controversial 400. My question is would siamesed bores be good for marine where lots of cold water is available.

I have a 2003 Chrysler GT, PT Cruiser with less then 60000 miles. It is a four cylinder 2.4L, that is turbo charged, and is automatic. I had a hole in the over flow tank and had it replaced with a new one. When I got it back from my mechanic it seemed ok. About a week later I took the radiator cap off and found a light brown milky substance in the radiator. No water in the engine oil. The temperature gauge never showed that the car ever got hot. Working on an overheating issue on my 2008 Mustang GT. Car starts normally after sitting all night and fan starts up when I click on the AC. Let the car run (or drive it in traffic) and as soon as the needle gets to normal the fan shuts down. this of course causes the radiator to start heating up shutting down my AC before going in the RED. Hi I have a 2000 Honda Civic. There seems to be a lot of rust in the coolant. I just got it back from the mechanic who repaired a failed water pump. Any suggestions on what to do to fix this? Thanks.

I have no coolant in my vehicle. It's getting cold tonight-20 degrees. Can I leave the vehicle parked, then just add coolant when the weather warms up again? The coolant all leaked out, I don't need to use the vehicle for a few days. Thanks!

My mechanic replaced my radiator hoses. 2 weeks later, one came loose and the engine overheated and died. It was put back on and 2 weeks after that, the hose began to leak. I brought it back and both hoses were replaced, said to be faulty. An external compression test was performed but not internal compression test. What does that mean and should I take the car to another mechanic for further testing or monitor the car for a while first? It seems to rev higher upon acceleration, to 3RPMs but I have not had the car back for more than a day.

I was reading online and found a few people saying you should never add concentrated anti-freeze to a cooling system. you should only dilute what you already have in there with water and only add anti-freeze when doing a flush, is this correct?

I own a MK 1 Citi Golf Sport 1.6 Carb that has 523220 km. I recently flushed the cooling system and changed the coolant. After the flush the temperature showed above normal despite changing everything. I also replaced the thyristor and still the temperature gauge reads above normal 50%. The fan kicks in as normal and the car is not overheating. I have had a dry and wet pressure test done, compression good. There is no mixing of water and oil. I have an overheating problem and I've found that my #1 fan that should be coming on at or about 195 degrees isn't coming on. I've checked the fan motor, it's good, I've checked the fuse and relay and they are good. The #2 fan comes on with the air conditioner just like it should. I did find that there isn't any power to the # 30 pin on the relay. Are the #1 and #2 fans controlled through the same temperature sensor? I've replaced the temperature sensor also. Any one have an idea what might be the problem?

I have a Nissan Qashqai 1.5 dci. My car is not overheating and blowers are blowing cool. The lower radiator hose and the bottom of the radiator are cold. I changed the thermostat and drained the cooling system twice. Still no heat. Any ideas?

If I were to go with a coolant flush every 15 to 20 thousand miles is this considered a little too excessive? It’s a ford fiesta mk 6 the service interval by the manufacturer is recommended at 100 thousand miles but I prefer to change it more often as my old Hyundai service interval was only 24 thousand miles.

Many aftermarket hoods, especially for sports cars, make use of large cowls, ram air vents, and most commonly heat extractors on the sides of the hood. I'm a techie and we're always spending insane amounts of money to improve our computer cooling systems, as improved cooling directly correlates to higher stable processing speeds. But does this hold true for cars? I thought that most engine cooling systems were efficient enough to keep an ICE at optimal temperature in all normal conditions. Radiators for the automatic version of my car have a couple of extra coolant outlets at the bottom for cooling the auto transmission. I was sent the wrong radiator and I don't need these in my manual car. Would there be anything wrong with just connecting the two with a length of hose?

2018 Camry XSE, Vacuum pump went on my car less then a year ago. I had my car towed to the dealership for the recall to be fixed. Since that incident my car hasn’t been the same. I paid off my var in June. By the ed of august my cars engine started going bad out of no where. started with oil and coolant mixing into the engine and then transmission started whining. Long story short I had to get both replaced. Oh yea my car only has 56k miles. Can you guys explain or give me any ideas on how this happened?

I work approx 30 minutes away from home. when i got home tonight, i noticed a hissing sound coming from under the hood and a thin smoke coming out of the front grill. the vehicle is a 2001 ford f-150 with 5.4L. 2012 Malibu, 140k. Started about 1-2 months ago. It cranks but doesn’t start. The lights, radio, etc, come on just fine. I replaced the battery first off. The parts shop said the battery was borderline, it was due, so I replaced it. Still having it. Sometimes it starts and runs fine. Sometimes it cranks but doesn’t start.
