It was a German car.I drove one a short distance a long time ago; one of the four-cylinder models with a manual transmission. It really was a big, heavy, soggy old-man's car that didn't go very fast and possessed steering somewhat less responsive than the Torrey Canyon's. I have to say I liked it. Only issue apparent was that the dot-matrix-type information display screens in the dashboard were all partially burnt out thus illegible. Gather such a thing plagued nineties Vauxhalls as far back as the, erm, nineties... The Omega and the Holden stuff, plus the American version the GTO share a lot of design DNA, they are cousins but I don’t believe much is interchangeable between them. There is commonality but it’s limited to small parts but engines, brakes, gearboxes etc don’t easily swap from one to the other. The bodyshells are strengthened for the Holden models to take a V8, the most powerful Omega is less than half what the Holdens came with. Pity there was never a Lotus version of this model.
