One aspect they re considering is making use of Euro 7 utilisation factors for plugin hybrids recognising that on average fewer people are plugging in as much as might be assumed. I think they also regret allowing HEVs to carry on past 2030 so are looking to use stricter definitions of what one is (there are classes based on system voltage) and also reducing the emissions trading opportunities afforded by hybrids generally. They definitely need to look at what constitutes a HEV and PHEV as I don’t think a car that has low efficiency or only manage 20miles on a single charge offers much or anything worthwhile. I think Toyota have demonstrated what can be done if manufacturers are encouraged it would be interesting to see what done. Sadly thats not the trajectory we are heading.Euro 7 main improvements is more about ensuring the emissions persist for at least 10 years . I am not entirely sure the battery life requirements offer anything new for EV, but I guess a start.
