You may have read my post previously about the Overland Yeti / subsequent Yeti TSI conversion which appears to have inspired a couple of PHers so far to head to Morocco, which is great! it has been awesome reading of poppopbangbang's Cayenne adventure and CA with his L405.https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...Well anyone that read the original thread will know that things didn't go completely to plan and ultimately we were let down by road car build quality which just isn't that suitable to the trials and tribulations of overland action (at least not at the hands of amateurs, an
Earlier this year, Mrs idealstandard said she fancied giving one of these challenges a go, which was a very pleasant surprise indeed! With no hesitateion, we booked onto Maroc Spring edition 2026. The timing was spot on what with the Iran situation kicking off and fuel prices skyrocketing, but hey ho!As my wife was competing one of her horses in and around this time, I drew the short straw so started the journey alone[url]A very moody and miserable Portsmouth on the 24th March. Brittany Ferries do two night sailings out of Portsmouth now which is unfortunate, but the timings just didn't work for the Plymouth route.I've done these sailings probably 20-30 times as my Mum lives in Portugal, but this time was the roughest i've ever experienced it, it was quite the adventure!Pleased to be returning to dry land...!!Lots of wind turbines are made / distributed through spain it seemsArriving into Santander nice and early, and with Mrs idealstandard not arriving into Alicante until 8PM resulted in a really lovely, leisurely drive through Spain. There was a bridge I wanted to see near madrid, and was a good opportunity to supply the car with beer, wine, water and food for the trip.Fuel stop and a quick coffee, love these jetboils! The Spanish government had cut fuel duty which was nice, I believe petrol was around 1.70 and diesel around 1.90.The San Pablo bridge in Cuenca. lovely little town as well, highly recommend a visit. The drive from Cuenca to Alicante is about 3 hours, and the start of the drive took the stunning N-420 road for some miles before picking up the motorway. It was deserted, 18-20 degrees and sunny and I had a lovely chilled time. I found a random place to stop next to the river and enjoyed a coffee and some lovely Spanish seafood and just took in the peace and quiet. It's moments like this that often have me questioning whether or not to keep up with the hustle and bustle of the uK!Mrs idealstandard arrived on time with easyjet and we drove down to Almeria

Quite like that. Seems good condition & obvious curio out of all the hatches of the time.Treat it like a mini exotic GT car rather than a Type R rival & I recckon it fits the brief.Price wise given the scarcity of these is about correct for the right enthusiast. Should get some money off as well I would argue.

J4CKO said: Seen theses described as awful and atrocious , never driven one but drove the odd Carlton and thought they were alright, what so bad about it or do you mean you don t find them appealing personally ?I remember them being fairly well regarded in period. Not seeing what s so bad ?I’m the same, why all the hate? Take the car for what it was meant to do in the time period it was made. The 6 cylinder Omega, Carlton, Senator, not to mention the Monza were all good cars. In my humble opinion if you want to see rubbish just go to any main dealer today.
