Fantastic Dadding and Daughtering there. When she is happy with the DA please send her around my way both the R8 and the Freeloader could do with some work
Road trip completed! Last Thursday a group of us set off for the Le Mans Classic at an ungodly 3:30am. It's been at least ten years since I stopped going to Le Mans as an annual tradition (the increase in crowds, gendarmes and the 'stag do' culture started to put me off) but a group of us in a similar boat decided to try out the Classic instead, on the basis that the crowds would be smaller, a bit more mature and the spectacle would be the kind of cars we lusted over when we used to go. Before I get into the trip and the car and whatnot, a few words on Le Mans Classic for anyone who's considering it... it has LOTS of positives. The crowds are much smaller and more 'dedicated' which means the traffic and queues and all that are much easier and the whole thing has a much more relaxed vibe. Seeing the older cars on track is still jaw-dropping (TWO McLaren F1's on track with a Panoz going flat out? like heaven for my ears) and there's all the usual Le Mans amazingness but just in a more gentle and relaxing way. However, I'm not sure I'd go again because you get the feeling that once you've seen it, you've seen it. The grids for all the races are relatively small and lots of cars drop out despite the short races, and although there's 'some' competition it's not nearly as exciting or closely fought as something like the Revival because the circuit is so massive. So there's lots of periods of seeing the same cars in yet-another-dull-race or sitting and waiting for something to come around the track. Don't get me wrong.. when the spectacle is amazing.. it's amazing (like watching the Lark F1s, or the flame-spitting GT2s at night) but there's a lot of not-very-much in between. It lacks the intensity of the on-track action you get at the real thing. TL;DR Definitely give it a go once, it's bloody cool, but don't think of it as a substitute for the real thing. Okay, now for the road trip... Very early start - with the car looking as good as it's ever looked. The frunk had more

I suspect an Auto 525i isn't going to be a ball of fire - probably why I replaced my 325i with a 330i after just a year - but if you got a year out of it for that money it's a decent Shed. Although with new injectors costing over £500 each and potential HPFP issues maybe it's a Brave Pill as much as a Shed! The first E6*s had the M54 and then the N52 so one of those would be a safer bet, even if it cost a bit more.

In a multi story that I was using earlier this evening, the MOT ran out in May 24. I do find the car park ones odd, I've seen other seemingly abandoned cars in other car parks, I'd love to know the reasons.

It's down to me where she ends up and I get to learn spanners! I do wonder what she will be like when all the jobs are done! Is this Mrs Romeford or Francesca you’re now referring to? …….

Glad you're ok, and a warm welcome to the 'Small car vs Mercedes 4x4' club. Membership is now 2 of us . I was in my Smart Fortwo and got rear ended by a Mercedes ML. Hopefully the Twizy is fixable.

Next up, we can't go past Switzerland without hitting some passes:https://maps.app.goo.gl/UdFDabEdEW6LpAdr8We leave Bolzano and suck up single lane Italian life. There are heaps of Apple orchards as we go further up into the mountains with some funny little tractors pulling apple carts going the other direction. We laugh. Then a less funny little tractor pulling apples pulls out in front of us and proceeds to do 30kph and it's way to busy to get past him. We don't laugh. Up the top of whatever traffic clogged pass this is there's the sight we've come for. "Luigi, you gonna be in a lotta troubl
