Next up, we can't go past Switzerland without hitting some passes:https://maps.app.goo.gl/UdFDabEdEW6LpAdr8We leave Bolzano and suck up single lane Italian life. There are heaps of Apple orchards as we go further up into the mountains with some funny little tractors pulling apple carts going the other direction. We laugh. Then a less funny little tractor pulling apples pulls out in front of us and proceeds to do 30kph and it's way to busy to get past him. We don't laugh. Up the top of whatever traffic clogged pass this is there's the sight we've come for. "Luigi, you gonna be in a lotta troubl
olv said: Brilliant trip and write up. Now you ve had the Vantage a little while and done a few big trips I d be interested to know about how it compares to the R8 and Cayman for this sort of trip. Apologies for never replying to this one! Let's try an incredibly subjective rating system and see where we get to. Doing a Euro road trip in any of them is still a huge amount of fun and if you own one or any sports car you owe it to yourself to get out there. Motorway Cruise - all of them are very liveable for long periods:1) Aston - more grunt, ride comfort and noise isolation. Seats least comfortable for me.2) R8 / Porsche tied - both lack grunt so need a few downshifts on the motorway to make progress. Both are still ride very well on a long trip and better seats. Noise isolation not great on either but probably worse on the R8? It certainly hated the concrete bits on the M25 worse than the others.Ease of use / Wife friendly:1) Porsche - by a country mile, more vis, nicer shift, hard to stall, smaller so easier to park. Narrowest so easiest to place on tight foreign roads.2) Aston - Would be loads easier with the stock flywheel to drive but BBB still graunches into 2nd when cold and it stalls pretty easily. Better vis than the R8 but that bonnet keeps going forever so you need to be mindful.3) R8 - Still easier to drive than it looks but it was intimidating. Gear change was stiff but it always worked like you wanted. Lower than the other two (or it felt it). Front diff locking on full steering lock made reversing a harassment and it had a standard light flywheel so easy to stall too. Packability / Space:1) Aston - I think it's probably got as many usable litres of space as the Porsche but it's all in the boot so makes it a bit easier to pack. See pic below on the way back from France. 2) Porsche - divided between the boot and frunk (froot?).3) R8 - If you use the rear parcel shelf you can fits lots in but if you like driving at full arm extension or ar

Billy_Whizzzz said: The Morgan updates like the chin spoiler look absurd. Either keep it old looking and accept the compromises or design something new. The combination of a pre war sports car with Halfords aftermarket tat is just wrong.Halfords sell bike racks, not body kits. It's not 2005 anymore, so it is really time to put that joke back on the shelf.

Romeford said: Thank you. Mrs Romeford has accepted that she now has to share me! I think she could easily be a rust bucket or a pristine example. It's down to me where she ends up and I get to learn spanners! I do wonder what she will be like when all the jobs are done! Is this Mrs Romeford or Francesca you’re now referring to? …….

Glad you're ok, and a warm welcome to the 'Small car vs Mercedes 4x4' club. Membership is now 2 of us . I was in my Smart Fortwo and got rear ended by a Mercedes ML. Hopefully the Twizy is fixable.

2023 Renault Twizy, 6.1kw, 20hp, 57nm, 2 Seats, 3 Belts, 1 plug, no windowsTadaaaa!!Man, only 1 day old and it already got a nickname, because first thing my GF said today was that I look like this in it: Anyway, that's not important. Important ist that it makes me happy. Yeah ok, Calimero looks happy too in that pic, but that's not the point! Eh, I start again: Yes I bought my a Twizy, and yes it 's overpriced, and yes it's silly. - But I love it. - I wasn't even so exited and bemused when I bought the S6. - Because this is different. Because from now on this is my daily driver.Pro: Better,
