The hood doesn't stay open. The hood uses two gas struts to be opened and they failed causing the hood to slam into my head and neck. The hood doesn't have a prop up bar which can keep the hood propped open. My car is a 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid with 70,000 miles on it. The hood was opened all the way for 5 minutes before it slammed shut on me.

There are multiple warning lights on my dash at this time. The car’s dashboard will light up and all systems started failing with no warning while driving. The car will not accelerate, brake, or steer properly. The xle Camry 2018 models moonroof/sunroof, stops working and there is no safety close option for the moonroof. It gets stuck open and the only option to get it to close is a $10,000 repair. I have extended warranty that will cover this plus 14 days of a car rental, but the dealership cannot guarantee when the parts will be in, so I have approximately more than 30 days for my car to be repaired. So I still have to pay more than $1600 for fees plus car rental and no assistance from Toyota. (this is including there is more than 3 cars at the dealership with the same issue).

I brought my car in for maintenance and while the vehicle was on the lift, the top mounting bracket of both front MacPherson struts failed and allowed the coil spring to decompress to the furthest extent allowed by the other suspension components. Both struts catastrophically failed within 10 minutes of each other, causing a loud violent bang, but not immediately when the tires were lifted off the pavement. Driving down the interstate it started snowing and it was a wet snow so it was sticking to the front of the car. Warning light for the front collision light came on and said was disabled or something like that. It was also white outs during this snow storm so with that out not knowing if there's a car in front of me put not only my life but my husband's life in danger. Once we stopped for gas and cleared front of car off it was fine. We've owned this car since 2018 and this is the 1st snowstorm we've encountered this.

If you’ve been here long enough, you know I like to take things apart to see why they failed. Sometimes, I fix them and have a spare. Other times they are shot but nice to learn how they work and what went wrong. I think the last one I posted here was regarding the steering angle sensor for my Trailblazer that had repeated failures. I recently bought a used Ford F150. The Shifting solenoid malfunctioned, burned up transmission and created a hazard on the roadway in high traffic areas. Vehicle stalled creating a backup in traffic and myself almost got rear ended. The Red McCombs Toyota did confirm it was a solenoid malfunction through a phone call and video. They concluded that the car is not operable. The problem has been inspected and was advised to pay a hefty fee of nearly $10,000. Prior to the failure no lights or warnings were provided by the car’s electrical system not until I parked and restarted the car that the lamps turned on after the failure.

Brake malfunction on my 2018 Toyota Camry and steering wheel malfunctioned causing my vehicles to spend on the freeway hitting a barrel and landing the car into a ditch. The car is not available for inspection it’s still at the tow yard. The safety was at risk for me as the driver was tremendously overwhelming and fearful. Only when it rains the forward collision warning light comes on. The last time it came on the engine light also came on with code P01280. Diagnostic at Toyota said the Thermostat needs to be replaced. I decided to look into this as the thermostat should not be bad at 54500 miles. Weeks later and the neither light has come on again.

My warning panel told me to take the car to dealer for reprogram, and dealer said my wiring harness for hybrid electric system had been chewed by rodents and the harness and probably batteries should be replaced NOW or the car might catch fire. I replaced the harness and the batteries. When I asked to see the parts, they said they had boxed and shipped. Later, a friend alerted me to a problem with Soy-based coatings on wires that rodents found tasty. My friend said his KIA had same problem and his insurance covered the expense . Brought my vehicle to Costco to have the tires replaced. After the vehicle was put on the lift, the wheel broke off. Fortunately no one was underneath at the time. Costco did no further work because of this so car was then towed to dealership. They confirmed that the strut mounts were rusted so badly that it caused it to just break away from the top mount. This suspension issue also caused additional tire damage. There was absolutely no indiciation that there was an issue with the strut and I am glad that it decided to break off while on a lift getting service instead of when I was driving it.

While driving my car it showed an SRS Airbag System Malfunction contact your dealership message. On March 19,2025 we took our car into the dealership, and they stated the car was drivable, but if we were in a head on collision the seatbelt would not tighten to keep us from hitting the steering wheel/dashboard/windshield. The part was not available and would be ordered to be installed within approximately two weeks. I have a 2018 Toyota Camry XSE with 67,000 miles. The car started making a clinking noise when driving over small bumps, increasingly getting louder over the course of a few days. I took it in to a mechanic and both the left and right strut mounts and coils were rusted and fully cracked . When lifted, both front tires fell to the sides. This could have resulted in significant car damage had I driven over a large bump,. The mechanic stated that he had never experienced this in a newer car with so few miles.
