I'm debating what I do with a speedo conversion. Plus point with the Lockwood is you get mph and kph whereas converting it on the CAN leaves you with mph only. Or I could just leave it in Km. I'm fairly used to doing it in my head that way around. Of course, there was an incident in the Forester where I forgot it was converted and I took it up to an indicated 100 thinking 'this feels strangely fast'

I saw no fees on their website. Did anyone handle your car in the UK once it landed to the point you drove it away, or did you do the entire process yourself and store the car in the port until the IVA test, DVLA registration? I am trying to see if I can save a decent amount by doing it myself vs. having any of the UK agents do it for me. I am considering buying a brand-new final edition ZC33S for ~2,900,000JPY.Edited by JJ81 on Friday 2nd January 14:04 Respect will handle everything until the car reaches the UK, you will then have to pay import duty (10%) on everything including the shipping, VAT (on total cost of the car shipped and import duty) and some small change for admin. I used a company called Kleerfreight (www.kleerfeight.com) to manage the import on the UK side. If the car is less than ten years old it will need an IVA test, these tests can only be carried out at certified test centres, there is normally a four-six week waiting list. I used Lee Allan IVA testing (07879894277), you can then either go collect the car or arrange for it to be delivered. I collected this time but I have used Matt at Bodyshoppe (079676891403) in the past to deliver. Lee will get the car through the IVA test, MOT it, register it with the DVLA, tax it and make the plates up for you. Thats circa £1000.I don't think I've missed anything out...does that help?Thank you for this! Very helpful. I found that under 2021 Japan-UK agreement, there is 0% import duty if you have a car's certificate of origin, proving the car was made in Japan. Might save a few £ See if you can get a refund on import duty. All these cars are made in Japan.

Writing the title made me wonder how many rear engined coupes have existed. I got 911 (obviously), some Alpines, Delorean, Fiat / Abarth versions of the 850. There must be more. But this is none of those. Its Japanese, made in the '80s and sold here in reasonable numbers. But they are now firmly in the category of 'rare but nobody gives a st'. And only a handful remain. It's a car I've had a yearning to own and got outbid on one at auction many years ago. More recently I contacted a seller on FB, we agreed a price and then he blocked me...So I broke the first rule of car buying and bought one s
