1994 뷰익 센추리 3.1L V6 엔진에 10W-30 오일이 가득 차 있으나, 오일 리저버 캡에는 5W-30을 지정함. 플로리다에 거주하며 최저 기온이 화씨 18도 수준이므로 저온 점도(W 앞의 숫자)가 문제가 될지 우려함.

1998년식 아우디 A4 (20만 마일 이상 주행)에서 공회전 시 매우 심한 라틀링음 발생. 엔진이 한동안 작동한 후 주로 발생하며, 2000rpm 이상 회전 시 음이 사라지고 주행 중에는 조용함. 간헐적으로 공회전 중 라틀링이 지속되면 오일 경고등(압력 경고등)이 깜박이고 소리가 나지만 주행하면 사라짐 (오일량은 충분함).

스코다 에스텔/120(1970년대, RWD, 후방 장착 엔진) 엔진을 리빌드하는 중. 제조 연도에 따라 두 가지 다른 피스톤이 사용됨: (1) 4개 링 + 유압환 부분에서 밑부분까지의 컷이 한쪽에 있고 플랫 헤드 (267g). (2) 3개 링 + 핀홀 양쪽 아래에 강화된 영역이 있고 약간의 돔형 헤드. 두 피스톤 모두 전체 치수가 같아서 같은 엔진에 호환 가능해 보임. 어느 디자인이 더 나은가?
