I've always felt 100bhp is the bare minimum I'd prefer, but have gone lower with a brief stint in an Audi A2 TDi 75ps.For the upper limit, I don't have one.

I'd have to cog it down many gears for it to actually get a shift on, and I always felt that it would work best on an autobahn to be honest, because I found it pretty frustrating to drive in the UK really. Although you could aim that criticism at many performance cars in the UK in fairness though I think. You chose the wrong gearbox.Dare I say, that if you drove a DCT M3 V8 now you would find that what the M4 offers over the V8 is either too much torque in the wet for the grip on offer or not special enough in the dry.Which is why turbocharged ICE will in days to come be remembered as a stop-gap until EV came along to replace it with more torque, more grip, more traction, better handling, sharper throttle response and a heap more economy with lower maintenance built in as a bonus.A head-to-head between the forthcoming ICE vs EV M car will highlight this.I'm fascinated to see how that pans out as well, because I can't see the ICE M car fans actually being interested in the electric M3 to be honest, and I know that I'm certainly not anyway, and I'd obviously take the ICE version instead, regardless of how quick the electric one is for example. I'd imagine that there are many more folk like that too. Stats junkies will go electric. I can see the point in ultimate stats if you're racing but on the road it will be the complete package that will influence the decision the most. If you're already into EVs then I'm sure the E M3 will be attractive. If you're not, I don't think many people will want to give up the ICE experience for a few tenths here and there. It's hardly like you race the E equivalent of your ICE car on a regular basis, if ever.If the electric M3 is as clever as BMW seem to think it will be, the people who like M cars for their dynamics will prefer the electric one. The people who like M cars for their exceptional engines should probabl

We took one to over 200k miles and other than a few stone chips it did wear its mileage incredible well. Our's was also a 525i SE Touring. Really nice car though the 525i never feels especially potent. It does the job though. Our's was starting to get very niggly by the time we moved it on. In the space of a few weeks I had to replace a starter motor, rear bags, wiper motor, a coil pack and a couple of other bits. Understandable at that mileage but it w
A little addition to the fleet this weekend in the shape of a 2010 E82 125i. I've got a couple of cars that are at extremes, a Clio that is great for track days but terrible on the road and another BMW that is lovely for road trips but I'm too precious over it to use on track days and it's not really that kind of car for me anyway. I've done a fair few trips in my mates Cayman GT4 over the last 18 months and as you'd expect it does a great job at covering both bases. We've done 5 hour drives in relative comfort and then enjoyed it round a track for 10 hours before driving home again (not all o

According to google its just passing around the dark side of the moon, drifting through the frozen vacuum of space (I ll get round to fixing that) 1000 miles into its return trip.Ancient history:Had this for about 12-13 years now, got it at around 60k, after my beloved and equally leggy 172 cup went into the back of an Elgrand HARD thanks to its lack of ABS. Got an auto 330ci shortly after too, was lovely, but horrendously rusty and crap at fitting mountain bikes in (the main passion), so ended up giving that to a mechanic mate during lockdown, over a weekend it was repainted, stripped, conver

Quite like that. Seems good condition & obvious curio out of all the hatches of the time.Treat it like a mini exotic GT car rather than a Type R rival & I recckon it fits the brief.Price wise given the scarcity of these is about correct for the right enthusiast. Should get some money off as well I would argue.

You may have read my post previously about the Overland Yeti / subsequent Yeti TSI conversion which appears to have inspired a couple of PHers so far to head to Morocco, which is great! it has been awesome reading of poppopbangbang's Cayenne adventure and CA with his L405.https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...Well anyone that read the original thread will know that things didn't go completely to plan and ultimately we were let down by road car build quality which just isn't that suitable to the trials and tribulations of overland action (at least not at the hands of amateurs, an
