I remember reading a Brave Pill article on here from June 2019 about the purchase of a CAT C TVR Tuscan. At the time I thought that it was indeed a ballsy buy but admired both the bravery and the car itself. Being a long time reader of PH but infrequent contributor, I thought I'd start a readers cars thread, who knows, some may be interested. I bought the cars in 2025 so this will be a bit of a 'diary' from then up to now.Over the last 20 years I've owned a number of classic Fords, namely Capris 2.8i and 3.0 Ghia, Cortina Ghia, RS Focus Mk1, and Escorts Mk1, 2 and 3.They were mostly decent to very good condition and I joined the Capri Club NI and went to various shows and runs. My other half's car for the last 5 years has been a Mercedes ML350cdi. To it's credit it's was one of the most comfortable cars we've owned. Incredibly practical for a family of five but it was becoming costly. Last year we spent £1k on incidental repairs not including servicing etc. This year the A/C pump packed up but it also developed a timing chain rattle on cold. Frustrating as it only had 104k on it, full service history too but a timing chain replacement was an engine out job, £4k+ and even a local specialist wouldn't do the job. 에코(Echo) TC-2100 경운기가 시동이 잘 안 걸림. 처음에는 시동이 전혀 안 걸렸음. 스파크플러그 확인 결과 불꽃이 약하고, 플러그 도자기 부분이 금이 가서 점화가 누전되고 있었음(두꺼운 가죽 장갑을 끼고 만져도 느껴질 정도). 플러그를 교체했으나 불꽃이 여전히 약한 상태(다른 소형 엔진과 비교해도)이지만 시동은 걸림.

1996 시보레 서버번 1500 4WD 5.7리터 보르텍 - 키를 돌려도 시동이 안 걸림. 전혀 반응이 없는 것처럼 보임. 하지만 테스트 라이트로 스타터에 확인하면 전원이 있음. 크랭크 퓨즈에 테스트 라이트를 대고 시동을 걸면 정상 작동하고 시동이 걸린 후 꺼도 같은 증상 반복

2019 Subaru Crosstrek가 9개월간 보관 후 시동. 점프 스타트로 시동되었으나 몇 분 후 꺼짐. 이후 점프 스타트 불가. 배기구에서 흰 연기 발생, 엔진베이에서 악취 발생.

2004 Mercury Monterey: 어제 밤 모든 전자장치가 꺼지고 시동이 꺼졌음 (배터리 방전/불량 오터네이터 원인). 아침에 오터네이터 교체 후 점프스타트 실시. 약 40분 주행 후 정상 작동하지만, 주행 중 배터리 경고등/충전 시스템 경고등이 계속 점등됨.

1984년식 VW Jetta, 1.6L 휘발유 엔진(EZ 코드). 시동은 정상이나 오래 방치 후에는 크랭킹이 길어짐. 오르막길에서 엔진 미스파이어 발생하며 동력 상실(급경사에서는 정상 주행 불가). 아이들링 중(자동변속기 P/N 위치)에도 미스파이어 발생하나 빈도 낮음(약 10초마다 1회). P/N 위치에서 아이들링 회전수 약 1500RPM.

헤드 개스킷 교체 후 도시 속도에서는 잘 움직였으나 약간의 딱딱거리는 소음 발생. 고속도로에서 가속 시 체크 엔진 라이트 점등. 진단 결과 P2646 코드 발생 (뱅크 1 'A' 로커암 액추에이터 시스템 성능 불량/오프 상태 고착).

점프 케이블을 역으로 연결하면 마지막 케이블을 연결할 때 큰 스파크가 발생합니다. 배터리가 완전히 방전된 경우에도 알터네이터의 다이오드 팩이 수백 암페어를 흘릴 수 있습니다. 알터네이터용 퓨저블 링크가 빠르게 고장날 수 있습니다. 대부분의 경우 점프 케이블이 역으로 연결되면 엔진이 시동되지 않습니다. 역방향으로 연결된 상태에서 시동이 걸렸다면 올바르게 연결되었다는 의미입니다. 오래된 직동식 스타터 모터(권선형 필드 사용)는 역방향으로 연결되어도 올바른 방향으로 회전하며, 포인트식 점화 시스템은 여전히 스파크를 발생시켜 시동될 수 있습니다. 신형 차량의 영구 자석형 감속 스타터 모터는 역방향 연결 시 엔진이 회전하지 않습니다. 전자 점화 시스템이 있는 차량은 시동되지 않습니다.

오래된 닛산 펄서 J1J 1991년식 자동변속기(주행거리 203,000km)에서 아침이나 5시간 이상 주차 후 시동을 걸 때 엑셀을 밟아야만 시동이 걸림. 2주 전 배터리 교체했으나 증상 개선 안 됨. 아침 기온이 영하에 가까우나 온도와 무관하게 발생.

2001 시에나가 시동이 걸리지 않음. 시동을 시도하면 매우 빠른 딸깍딸깍 소리가 남. 계기판 불이 매우 어둡고 계속 깜박임. 배터리 양극 터미널을 확인했을 때 단단해 보였으나 터미널 주변에 녹색 결정체가 있음. 전력 문제가 확실하지만 배터리 문제인지 다른 문제인지 불명확함. 배터리 터미널의 녹색 물질이 무엇인지 불명확. 점프스타트를 시도해야 하는지 확실하지 않음.

자동차 뒤쪽 왼쪽 타이어 사이드월에 작은 컷이 있음. 구매한 지 얼마 안 된 중고차인데 타이어 트레드가 낮아 보이고 편마모(uneven wear)가 보임.

오일 캡에서 나오는 호스가 손상되어 오일이 새고 있습니다. Dodge Ram 1500 V8 5.7L Hemi 트럭의 호스 이름과 부품 번호를 찾을 수 없습니다.

시트로엥 C3가 시동이 걸리지 않는 문제가 있습니다. 최근에 발생한 문제로, 주행 후 시동을 끈 다음 다시 시동을 걸려고 할 때만 발생합니다(예: 마트 다녀온 후). 주행 시간이 길수록 발생 확률이 높아집니다. 1시간 정도 주행 후 정차했을 때는 몇 시간 동안 시동이 걸리지 않았습니다. 배터리 문제는 아닐 것 같습니다.

스바루 레거시

2001 스바루 레거시의 1단 기어가 들어가지 않거나 들어가기 어려움. 클러치 페달을 밟아도 '스윗 스팟'이 없음. 1단에서 시동을 걸면 차가 떨리고 시동 유지가 어려움. 간헐적으로 발생 - 때로는 정상이고 때로는 문제 발생. 클러치 냄새 관찰됨.
