증상
에코(Echo) TC-2100 경운기가 시동이 잘 안 걸림. 처음에는 시동이 전혀 안 걸렸음. 스파크플러그 확인 결과 불꽃이 약하고, 플러그 도자기 부분이 금이 가서 점화가 누전되고 있었음(두꺼운 가죽 장갑을 끼고 만져도 느껴질 정도). 플러그를 교체했으나 불꽃이 여전히 약한 상태(다른 소형 엔진과 비교해도)이지만 시동은 걸림.
처리 내용
연료 부족으로 인한 캐브레터 문제가 원인. 진단 사고 과정이 맞는 것 같음: a) 프라이머 벌브의 금이 간 부분에 덕트테이프를 작은 조각으로 붙여보기. 캐브에서 공기를 빨아들이면 휘발유를 제대로 빨아들이지 못해 초크만으로 작동하는 상황이 발생. 이것으로 해결되면 필요한 만큼 작동시킨 후 친구에게 반납하면 됨. 덕트테이프의 밀폐력을 과소평가하지 말 것. b) 연료 필터가 있는가? 대부분의 소형 엔진은 필터가 없고 이것이 문제가 되지는 않음. c) 가장 가능성 높음. 소형 엔진 캐브와 에탄올 혼합 연료 조합에서 이것이 주요 원인. 스태빌(Stabil) 같은 연료 안정제 사용이 큰 도움이 됨, 특히 겨울철 보관 후에는. 사용하지 않으면 캐브 통로가 막힐 수 있음.
