시빅에서 지난 6개월간 오일 2L 손실(과도한 것으로 보임). 이전 오일 교환 시 정비소에서 0w30은 너무 묽다고 해서 5w30 사용 권장받음. 5w30 사용 후 소비량 증가. 고급 오일 사용, 연 2회 교환(약 12,000km 간격). 피스톤 링 손상 우려. 엔진을 자주 레드라인까지 고회전 운전. 엔진은 항상 약간의 오일 소비(10,000km당 약 1L).

드라이브샤프트 교환

코일오버로 전체적으로 45-50mm 낮춘 차량에서 드라이브샤프트 베어링이 4-5개월마다 양쪽 모두 교체가 필요할 정도로 빠르게 손상됨. 낮아진 차량으로 인한 드라이브샤프트의 각도 문제가 원인으로 보임.

매니폴드와 다운파이프에서 작은 누수(수 mm 크기)가 발생함. 미국 제조 레어 차량(99년식 Civic VTi)이고 영국에 있어서 부품 구하기가 어려움. 정비소에서는 부품을 교체해야 하며 임시방편으로는 효과가 없다고 함.

자동차가 완전히 꺼진 상태에서 흐르는 전류(암페어)는 얼마나 되는가? 배터리가 방전될 정도의 문제가 발생하기까지 얼마나 오래 방치할 수 있는가?

엔진오일 교환

2005 닛산 센트라에서 오일 누유 발생. 1월에 오일 교환했으나 2주마다 확인하는 중. 오늘 오일이 풀 라인 위 약 1인치(약 2.5cm) 상태. 1월 이후 오일을 추가한 적 없고 주당 5~10마일 정도만 주행. 오일에 물이 섞여 있을 가능성을 의심.

2001 Chevrolet Silverado가 시동이 안 걸림. 엔진이 회전하고 솔레노이드는 작동하지만 스파크가 없는 것으로 보임. 퓨즈는 모두 정상. 점화 관련 문제가 처음 발생.

I've seen a "black box" referred to by the media in the past and again today in the reporting of the death of Aubrey McClendon . The headline on the TV said "Police retrieve the Black Box from vehicle". Is this a real device or do investigators pull data from the ECU and the media just calls it a "black box"? If its a discrete device or a part of the ECU, what does it record, and for how long? Is it hardened or fireproof like on an airplane or do investigators just have to hope that it's not damaged? I recently took a mate's son to his prom in my Caterham, was a nice thing to do. I'd totally underestimated the amount of effort that goes into prom transport There were quite a few interesting cars - quite a few 911s, couple of Ferraris (458 and 360), Rolls Royce Wraith, VW notchback that somehow wasn't overheating in the ridiculous heat and standstill traffic, and a surprising number of Mustangs (both classic and more recent).
