Well rescued! Such a handsome car with that slight rising wedge profile to them.

Sadly I had to settle for wheels that I could get hold of for around 200 pounds - the Zenders will have to await my mint condition 3.2 in Emerald Green (...one day...)!Saturday morning...clear blue skies, fresh coffee and a Honda Accord loaded with motoring goodness - it was going to be an excellent day! The plan was to take the new teledials down to where the 166 was stashed, alongside some Saab wheels and a mountain of parts and gubbins for various cars, then see if the 166 underside was robust enough at Micheldever Protyre to justify new tyres.The rest of the car was full, so...Nothign untoward from a week standing in the rain - maybe a little damp in the boot, but reconnected the battery and it twinsparked instantly, eager to get out on the road. Both front tyres were down 15-20 psi in a week, so I pushed some nitrogen/oxygen mix into them from a manual contraption and sped off to Micheldever.Some of the B roads in Hampshire are truly beautiful and terribly surfaced. The 166 has continued to surprise me in its handling - the front end has excellent, quick direction and feel, but I have no idea what is happening at the rear - bad surfaces and tight turns put it out of shape at moderate speeds.Arrived at Michedever and fate was smiling on me - no one in the queue - an unusual Saturday result. You can see here the result of the previous owner only changing the front springs for non-Ti longer items.Prior 235/40/18s from Pirelli and decent tread all round, but we found a puncture repair on one of the fronts, some cracking starting on the sidewalls from UV exposure, and a few gouges in the inside tread. One front alloy also has a buckle.With the wheels off, I checked general condition - overall, old, some rust and grot emerging, but nothing terminal...Rear discs and pads already acquired...Fronts in much better condition (and have cleaned up well with use, plus evidence of new brake flexis, wishbones etc.Rear springs confirmed as originals, and next up on my to-do lis
