I felt really positive about this, the looks, performance and almost acceptable range - then I saw the price and weight of the thing! still waiting for SSD batteries and in wheel motors as well .............

Seems to make sense to me. I get the it s not real argument to some extent, but real versions of the same are being phased out whether we like it or not. I love the sound a V8 makes but I ve never owned one as I couldn t afford to. Whilst this is also way beyond my means to buy.Unlike an AMG V8, when this becomes close to affordable as a used proposition, if it does, it will be a lot more affordable to run and use compared with that V8, Mercedes specific running costs aside.I ve not driven an EV with a sound generators, but the reviews are favourable regarding how the sound helps with the engagement of driving, this is surely something we should all applaud, whether we are able to drive high performance cars or like me, just drive ordinary tat but find enjoyment from it, these EVs are giving us some of that fun and enjoyment on top of cheap running costs.Don t get me wrong, I d love a Chimera along side a daily EV, unfortunately reality is I can t afford that.Cheap running costs and fake noises doesn't equal fun though does it? If you're considering a "fun" car, then the last thing you should be thinking about is cheap running costs for me, and that is exactly why electric cars fall flat on their face in my view.

Given you were the one advocating for a minimum purchase period of 10 years on a new car, I thought it would be useful to compare the running cost savings between his car and its predecessor. If you were to put the savings into your pension it would probably compound to over £60k over those 10 years. And that s not an exaggeration.I run two V8s amongst others, the cars are getting used less and less because of the painful fuel cost. The only people in this thread who are saying just buy the real thing (including Lee

It's like a Taycan but not.Does anybody actually want a 2.4 ton EV 'sports' car? Where's the demand? Who's asking for this? I like a lot of EV's but I just don't get it.Prices start at £120k so it's a company car thing maybe?Edited by ImFeelingSaucy on Thursday 5th November 09:21

I acknowledge that I am OCD on my car and should chill, but really what is going on in the head of the driver who parked their car next to mine?My car is the MX5, it is 8 months old, has some stone chips on the front, every other panel is unmarked. When I parked the car yesterday at the gym the whole section of the car park was empty. When I came out this is what I found.

I think there’s also an element of people being scared. As a wider point people appear to want to follow rather than lead when driving. I wonder if consciously or subconsciously, when they enter a virtually empty car park, they struggle to make an independent decision. They wonder if they’re allowed to park there, so they see another car and think “I’ll park there, next to that car. They must know something or I can hide behind them if something bad happens.”To the wider point, I’m seeing a lot of people at traffic lights with two lanes waiting for the other driver to move before they do when

As others have said.A. You won't lose your NCD & even if you did you would be surprised how little difference it would actually make, it is not like you get 60% off or similar. Been there twice.B. The great majority of decent "approved" repairers will ask the question (or you can obviously) whether you need a car for the time the car is in for repair. They generally charge either nothing or just ask that you replace the fuel you use. Been there twice also obviously.
