If you

The EV crowd tell us that the vast majority of people don't do more than 7k miles a year now so 583 per month; if we assume the V8 is 20mpg then that's 29 gallons a month. £91 extra a month then. Hardly ruinous.TX.Your calculator is borked. There are 4.54 litres in a UK gallon.29 gallons is 133 litres, so fuel is costing around £266 a month, call it £250 extra to drive the V8, allowing for home charging electricity costs.Compound that at say 6% and add in a bit for inflation on the cost of fuel for 10 years.I did the calcs at 10k miles p.a. not 7k.The end result is over £60k if put in a pension. No, I said extra.69p x 4.54 is £3.13.£3.13 x 29 gallons is £91.TX.There's a whole lot of man-maths going on there, just to defend that V8s are not *really* that much more expensive. I bought a V8, new, in 2022. At that time, a full tank cost me about £80. it now costs about £120. That gives me 250-300 miles. I don't really give a fk, but I'm not ignorant to the fact that it costs me 50% more, which is approaching £200 per month MORE. I also know that if my 550bhp V8 was electric, it would cost a fifth as much, maybe less, and probably be more powerful, and faster. Again, I don't really give a fk. I don't want an electric car. I DO want, REALLY fkING WANT the noise of the V8 every time a touch the throttle. But I'm also not 'dick' enough to pretend that the economics are immaterial/insignificant. Bravo, very good post. The problem we have at the moment is, that at the higher end V8s(ICE in general) are in most parts of the world way more expensive than comparable EV.So there are savings on purchase price and massive savings on operating costs. Do I like the sound of V8? Very. Would I pay for that

Given you were the one advocating for a minimum purchase period of 10 years on a new car, I thought it would be useful to compare the running cost savings between his car and its predecessor. If you were to put the savings into your pension it would probably compound to over £60k over those 10 years. And that s not an exaggeration.I run two V8s amongst others, the cars are getting used less and less because of the painful fuel cost. The only people in this thread who are saying just buy the real thing (including Lee
It's like a Taycan but not.Does anybody actually want a 2.4 ton EV 'sports' car? Where's the demand? Who's asking for this? I like a lot of EV's but I just don't get it.Prices start at £120k so it's a company car thing maybe?Edited by ImFeelingSaucy on Thursday 5th November 09:21
Fair play to AMG for attempting to instill some character into the EV driving experience, GT 4 has so much tech in the drivetrain and a very very complex suspension setup, potential for ruinous borkage is tremendous once it's out of warranty! Design is an improvement over the non descript EQe series but the basking shark grille and the temu mod shop rear lights are naff. £120k is the ball park for an uber ev coupe, amazing it's actually less expensive than a £140k Renault 5 3e a back to back test would be interesting, though the Merc has an additional motor.

BMW M3
So for those of you that followed my short ownership of an E92 M3, it didn’t end well! Car ended up with bore score following suspected injector failure so I punted it on for a small loss to someone who will rebuild the engine. With the news that I will be taking my first step onto the property ladder, I decided I had to be slightly more sensible with what came next, as it will likely have to be a daily driver throughout this winter and into next year whilst I get my finances sorted. I also decided I fancied another convertible, after selling an MG TF last year.Clearly I haven’t learnt the les

They said that about the DeLorean.DeLorean prices have gone up dramatically recently. Exactly my point.IMHO, the only reason the DeLorean isn't an obscure automotive footnote is because of its 'starring' role in that film.I doubt the Cybertruck will have such luck.
