I understand doing it but not to a convertible and not selling it for such a loss a year later. It wouldn't be for me as i dont like convertibles but it would be a boring world if we all did/ liked the same things.
I spoke to James at MKraft about doing a 1M Coupe build and S65/DCT conversion, this time last year. The 1M body conversion came out at £15-20K with a full repaint of the whole car. Though the cost was dependent on how you addressed the rear quarter panel conversion. The last time I looked, the OE rear quarter panels were NLA, but a company in The States had them in stock, however they were priced at something like $7,500 each ...Fortunately an enterprising company in the UK has made a stamping tool, and you can buy arch ++ sections (which reach right up to the rear light cluster recesses) although that still leaves all the required fabrication work to the tubs/inner arches (or if they're still available, you can buy the tubs off BMW)https://www.steelpanels.co.uk/products/bmw/bmw-1-s...Quarry Motors also does the conversions and has had the molds made to produce all the 1M Coupe panels in carbon.Unfortunately the proprietor Ash is never there, his staff never seem to know where he is, he doesn't respond to texts, WA messages, Instagram DM's or phone messages, so his panels could be pressed from sheet platinum, you still wouldn't be able to buy them. The E9X engine and running gear swap was £5K.You need a decent E82 donor car. The E82 suffers from pretty bad underside corrosion issues (especially if it's lived on the coast for the majority of its life) so I'd budget £4-5K for a good example.Lastly you need an E9X M3 donor car. Any convertible (they're the cheapest iterations) that's running and been decently maintained, which doesn't have intergalactic miles on it, will cost you £13-15K I'd want some decent suspension, seats, brakes, exhaust, carbon plenum/carbon intake/air filter housing, primary decat, headlamp upgrade, wheels, tyres, and the list goes on ....I reckoned the whole conversion would've cost me between £55-60K.I wasn't convinced the end justified the means, so abandoned the idea.A shame, because the end result would've looked superb in Space grey with a

We took one to over 200k miles and other than a few stone chips it did wear its mileage incredible well. Our's was also a 525i SE Touring. Really nice car though the 525i never feels especially potent. It does the job though. Our's was starting to get very niggly by the time we moved it on. In the space of a few weeks I had to replace a starter motor, rear bags, wiper motor, a coil pack and a couple of other bits. Understandable at that mileage but it w
A little addition to the fleet this weekend in the shape of a 2010 E82 125i. I've got a couple of cars that are at extremes, a Clio that is great for track days but terrible on the road and another BMW that is lovely for road trips but I'm too precious over it to use on track days and it's not really that kind of car for me anyway. I've done a fair few trips in my mates Cayman GT4 over the last 18 months and as you'd expect it does a great job at covering both bases. We've done 5 hour drives in relative comfort and then enjoyed it round a track for 10 hours before driving home again (not all o

According to google its just passing around the dark side of the moon, drifting through the frozen vacuum of space (I ll get round to fixing that) 1000 miles into its return trip.Ancient history:Had this for about 12-13 years now, got it at around 60k, after my beloved and equally leggy 172 cup went into the back of an Elgrand HARD thanks to its lack of ABS. Got an auto 330ci shortly after too, was lovely, but horrendously rusty and crap at fitting mountain bikes in (the main passion), so ended up giving that to a mechanic mate during lockdown, over a weekend it was repainted, stripped, conver

In a multi story that I was using earlier this evening, the MOT ran out in May 24. I do find the car park ones odd, I've seen other seemingly abandoned cars in other car parks, I'd love to know the reasons.

A somewhat unbalanced duo which is acknowledged from the start in this head to head. I would never put these two on the same page and i found myself unpicking the Porsche rather than comparing it to the Morgan. Despite the indifferences the 911 wins out.

I got the make and basic model in three - not Cardle's answer though. Ironically I intended to type in Challenger but ended up typing Charger for some reason - so I got it right by default!

If its styling fuses a little 6GT with a little 720S, I can't see it going far wrong.Building an SUV is a sad but perhaps necessary evil. Performance manufacturers should really look at a different set of priorities to luxury marques. A McLaren, Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche, or even Bentley SUV should be something that could conceivably win a race. Make the body low and wide, and if it has to be jacked up, make it jacked up for sand dunes and mud pits, not Kensington kerbs and speedbumps. Most importantly, make it weigh less! Else there's no S about it, it's just a big fat squishy UV.
