Bad luck chaps! It's so easily done when in the thick of it and it's only the fact that the Cayenne I built had no coolers outboard of the chassis structure that meant I escaped unscathed having done the same several times! Fingers crossed Garage Royal come up with a fix that gets you back in the thick of it.
Sorry guys for the lack of updates on this. Picking up where I left off, Garage Royal fitted the new radiator however sadly this was too late to rejoin the rally. It did mean though that although not pretty, the Octa could at least drive home. We got back three days later, fortunately without incident. It’s now booked in for a cosmetic repair of the front end. Apart from no front parking sensors it’s driving normally. I’ve even managed to get most of the sand out. So, has this changed my view of the car? Not at all! It’s an incredible machine and does so many things so well. Is it a good car for a raid event like the Maroc? If you can get through without incident then yes. The big but though is what happens if and when something goes wrong. There’s too much plastic with little protection at the front and repairing it in the field is a nightmare due to its complexity and parts availability. What about the Maroc? It’s safe to say that both of us loved the short time we were involved and are itching to have a proper go. So watch this space. With that in mind I have just bought a new toy for the summer that would be far more suitable:

Tiglon said: Hate these. I used to work in Marlow which had width restriction bollards at each end of the bridge (they've been removed now, so it's just a kerb instead which is bad but not quite as bad). In theory, they were 2m at both ends of the bridge, but I discovered that these could be adjusted (and had been adjusted) so that one end was wider. This meant that vehicles slightly wider than 2m could get on the bridge, but couldn't get off the other side...I had to help take them off at the narrower end because a Land Rover towing a trailer with a bull in it had got through one end of the

Writing the title made me wonder how many rear engined coupes have existed. I got 911 (obviously), some Alpines, Delorean, Fiat / Abarth versions of the 850. There must be more. But this is none of those. Its Japanese, made in the '80s and sold here in reasonable numbers. But they are now firmly in the category of 'rare but nobody gives a st'. And only a handful remain. It's a car I've had a yearning to own and got outbid on one at auction many years ago. More recently I contacted a seller on FB, we agreed a price and then he blocked me...So I broke the first rule of car buying and bought one s

I'm debating what I do with a speedo conversion. Plus point with the Lockwood is you get mph and kph whereas converting it on the CAN leaves you with mph only. Or I could just leave it in Km. I'm fairly used to doing it in my head that way around. Of course, there was an incident in the Forester where I forgot it was converted and I took it up to an indicated 100 thinking 'this feels strangely fast'
