I've mentioned it before, but everything is lovely about that photo I think. The car, the garages and the surroundings are all great for me.

I am going to get hate here but......About 10 years ago I had an E90 M3. It was a glorious car. However it was a purely selfish purchase and didn't work for us at all as a family. We also had a basic Vectra as a commuter tool/Skip run/Dogs car etc. With 3 kids and 3 dogs (plus living in the middle of nowhere with bad winters in the North Of Scotland) the M3 had to go. We replaced it with an Autobiography RRS with the 3.0 V6 TDI. As a family machine it was great. We still have it and it gets used for almost everything. During the first 5 years of ownership I had various cars I used for work and commuting. However 4 years ago I was in the very fortunate position to be able to buy an SVR. It's a car I have always wanted. And I can't think of a better all rounder. We do occasional off road/farm duty, no matter how bad the winter its never got stuck, during the various storms over the last few years its been great, all the family and dogs fit in it comfortably. I think its a lovely looking car and you can if you want stick the boot in and drive it like an idiot. It sounds lovely, but you can leave it in normal mode and turn up to a nice hotel or a family wedding with the wife and not feel like a berk. So yes we now have 2 RRS on the driveway. Does the SVR drink fuel? Kind of. If you keep of the loud pedal its no worse than the TDI one. At the moment with fuel prices its actually more economical I would argue that any vehicle with 550 BHP or a Supercharged 5.0 V8 is bad on fuel. However I have had Evo's and an RX8 that were WAY worse. Other maintenance costs are no worse than any other high performance car. Could something like a Golf or BMW estate do 80-90% of what the SVR does? Yes. But not when we end up with 2 ft deep snow drifts, or roads with 1ft of water from a storm. They also wouldn't make me grin half as much! I have also never owed a car that I have had more thumbs up in. In the Evo's, M3, GTI and VXR's even when driven in a polite fashion I

We took one to over 200k miles and other than a few stone chips it did wear its mileage incredible well. Our's was also a 525i SE Touring. Really nice car though the 525i never feels especially potent. It does the job though. Our's was starting to get very niggly by the time we moved it on. In the space of a few weeks I had to replace a starter motor, rear bags, wiper motor, a coil pack and a couple of other bits. Understandable at that mileage but it w

A little addition to the fleet this weekend in the shape of a 2010 E82 125i. I've got a couple of cars that are at extremes, a Clio that is great for track days but terrible on the road and another BMW that is lovely for road trips but I'm too precious over it to use on track days and it's not really that kind of car for me anyway. I've done a fair few trips in my mates Cayman GT4 over the last 18 months and as you'd expect it does a great job at covering both bases. We've done 5 hour drives in relative comfort and then enjoyed it round a track for 10 hours before driving home again (not all o

According to google its just passing around the dark side of the moon, drifting through the frozen vacuum of space (I ll get round to fixing that) 1000 miles into its return trip.Ancient history:Had this for about 12-13 years now, got it at around 60k, after my beloved and equally leggy 172 cup went into the back of an Elgrand HARD thanks to its lack of ABS. Got an auto 330ci shortly after too, was lovely, but horrendously rusty and crap at fitting mountain bikes in (the main passion), so ended up giving that to a mechanic mate during lockdown, over a weekend it was repainted, stripped, conver
