In a recent column a reader asked about a plug-in hybrid and the status of the gas. The discussion also mentioned the possibility that the 12v “starter” battery could drain over time. I don’t know about other cars but the Kia Niro has an “override” that can use the EV battery to start the car. That was the situation when we originally bought our Niro. There is a button on the dash that, if the 12v battery will not start the car, enables the starter to pull the necessary power to start the car. The battery then charges as normal. All Toyota hybrids and PHEVs (and many others, like my MKZ hybrid) use the large hybrid battery and one of the hybrid motors to start the car. The problem with a dead 12V battery is that it is used to power all the accessories and much of electronics, so a dead 12V = no start.

몇가지 질문드립니다. 셀토스 차량인데 출고한지 아직 1년이 안되었습니다. 그런데 간밤에 주차되어있는차를 상대방이 저렇게 박아버렸네요 일단 보험접수 해달라고 하였고 100대0 나오지않을까 생각합니다. 수리를 기아사업소 아니면 마스터오토큐 둘중에 입고시킬려고 하는데요, 주말에 사업소 접수 안하는걸로 알고있는데 그래도 주말지나서 월요일에 사업소에 입고시키는게 나을까요? 아니면 기다리지말고 토요일 마스터오토큐로 바로 가도 괜찮을까요? 아무래도 신차라서 정비가 더 완벽한곳으로 가려고 합니다. 제가 있는곳이 대구인데 주변사람들 중에 기아대구사업소에 불만있는사람들 좀 있긴한데 그래도 사업소가 낫겠죠? 사업소 입고 거부당하지는 않겠지요?? 마지막으로 저정도면 격락손해 받을수 있을까요?? 두서없이 여러가지 막 적었는데 경험있으신 분들 조언 부탁드립니다 ㅠ
고속도로 주행하다가 EV9 전면부 그릴 파손되었네요.. 빌트인캠도 앞부분 영상 날라가서 찾지도 못하게 됐습니다 자차 보험처리 해야겠다하고 그릴교체하러 기아 서비스센터 방문했습니다. 근데 하.. 이게 맞나요?? 1. 그릴부 교체해야합니다 -> 인정합니다 2. 그릴부 교체를 하려면 범퍼를 내려야합니다 -> 인정합니다 3. 범퍼를 내리면 양쪽 사이드가니쉬 파손되어서 무조건 교체해야합니다 (저렴합니다) -> 짜증나지만 오케이.. 4. 범퍼를 내릴때 조심하지 않으면(?) 브라켓이 파손되어서 범퍼를 교체해야할수도 있습니다. 비용은 200만원입니다. -> ??? 5. 저희는 작업 대기차량이 많아서 빨리빨리 작업해야하기 때문에 조심히 작업하기 힘듭니다. -> ??? 6. 범퍼교체까지 한다고 생각하시고 작업 진행하시던가 아니면 EV9 작업 잘하는 공업사를 찾아보세요. -> 하.. 휸기알바 피셜 부품값싸다?() 그런데 다른 부품도 같이 교체 해야 할수도있다?
아침에 급히 주차하다가 뒤에 적재물 인지를 못하고 박아버렸네요.. 범퍼가 살짝 빠져서 발로 차서 끼워넣긴 했는데, 도색이 저런식이라 ㅠㅠ;; 거리의 장인을 이용하기에도 무리가 있어보이고.. 이런건 기아에 예약하고 가면 당일처리가 될까요? 아니면 동네 카센타 가도 되는건지...흙흙...ㅠㅠ

I drive a 97 Honda Accord and just recently started experiencing an issue where while driving, my ignition suddenly shuts off. Sometimes when this happens I’m able to turn the key and get the ignition started right back up while coasting, but usually forces me to coast to the side of the road instead to throw it in park and restart ignition (instantly, no sputtering). We have a Honda Civic Hybrid with 204,000 miles on it. It’s my wife’s car and she commutes fifty miles every day in it. Late last week her IMA (hybrid battery) light came on. The last time this happened was 7 years ago. The battery pack was under warranty at the time and Honda replaced it. That warranty has since expired. Hey! The key to my 2006 Ford Mondeo wont open the hood for some reason… This is particularly bad due to the battery being dead after not being used for a few months. Anyone have any tips to fix this problem? (If its possible to fix) Additional information would be that the key fob usually works around 40% of the time so i resorted to using the manual key mostly, but now the manual key does not turn in the door either, so i’m pretty much hoping that the key fob will work if i want to use my car. 2012 Malibu, 140k. Started about 1-2 months ago. It cranks but doesn’t start. The lights, radio, etc, come on just fine. I replaced the battery first off. The parts shop said the battery was borderline, it was due, so I replaced it. Still having it. Sometimes it starts and runs fine. Sometimes it cranks but doesn’t start.
