The battery within that car is owned by the lender and forms an integral part of the collateral for that debt. Ach, no. You could say the same about any other part of the car - engine, gearbox, carpets, seat bolsters, whatever - and batteries look like being a lot longer lasting than many of the things in a car that many people can comprehensively ruin within three years. You don't get any lease company saying you can't smoke in your car, be 30st, or no

Then use your EV to power your 80 TV to watch celebrity traitors at peak time, thereby beating the system? My guess is that in the future charging an EV at home will attract a higher rate than general domestic use, not less, irrespective of time of day. V2H will then only be useful if you have a power cut, not to save money. Unless you believe the big companies will happily forgo profit or the govt won t tax EV charging to replace fuel duty as EV take up increases. Maybe fill your boots now as it won t last. There isn't some big energy conspiracy at play here. But no, that's not the assumption. The reason this is the case now is that there are certain power plants relatively hard to shut down and power up (eg nuclear), so these produce power. When demand is low, this power is still there and therefore given away at a lower rate. When demand is high, extra plants need to be spun up (eg gas) to keep up with demand and so price rises. With what we had up until now, that was quite predictable in terms of power output over a day (price of fuel is another matter of course). But add solar and wind in the energy mix and it becomes a lot harder. Production will fluctuate, maybe multiple times per hour. But when everything is booking it, it'll be hard to get rid of and therefore will be cheaper.A lot of people having own batteries (or better still, BIG home batteries) is a solution here. You can feed them power when there's a surplus and then buy it back at a rate they find reasonable. Balancing your grid with what is basically a gigantic decentralized battery instead of spinning up gas turbines every time a big cloud blocks out the sun. It's not going to be easy but it's far from sci-fi. Hell, at this point perfectly achievable at a small scale with just a battery and solar.

Useful update and great you're enjoying itMany will tell you to get the gearbox serviced, my zf8 is on easy motorway 160k and not bothered, and the car will soon depart so I don't care My sos battery went at 5 yrs so to save a trip to the garage and an annoying warning I'd get that done, tpms sensors last 5-7 years in my experience so could be good preventative measure

Well the AMG went and the Shark 6 has arrived. It was a better choice for me to be honest, with wanting to go into the dunes (see later on in the post how that went, rookie error) and for putting the kids bikes in etc etc - The long warranty and at the price they are it was a no brainer. So I had never head of this until moving to Dubai a few months back, test drove one and it was quicker than the previous Raptor I trialled so it now had my interest. It has a monstrous Chinese 1.5 powerhouse and dual electric motors. Combined power: 436 hpCombined torque: 650 Nm0-100 km/h: 5.7 secondsTop speed

700 mile update.Still loving it so far! Its performing better than expected if I'm honest.Handles very well for something just under 2 tonnes. Have had a bit of a play with it on fun roads and you can definitely feel the All wheel drive working. With near 300hp it feels like a mk7 Golf R I once test drove. The engine/electric combo in sport mode is very nice. It just cruises along on a wave of torque and if you boot it, the engine pulls hard at the top end with the extra shove from the motor.Efficiency wise, ive finally got the app to work properly so now I can nerd out on all the facts of all
