You ve probably seen it already but Popopbangbang s extensive thread on prepping his Cayenne for Maroc is a very interesting and educational read.I'm also currently building a Boxster to do this years in.... Maroc is quite a steep learning curve but there are several first principles that can be applied to it (and other similar events) that will put you in a good position. Happy to have a chat about prep if useful, either here or via e-mail I sti
So, I haven't updated this thread in a while. The Octa was repaired shortly after returning to the UK and is looking like new again, the LR approved bodyshop did a great job.I'm now close to 10k miles in and still absolutely love it. It's just such a great all rounder. I've had lots of road trips around the UK including up to Dunkeld for the excellent Land Rover Experience Scotland. What a brilliant day in their Octa exploring hillsides and their Octa specific fast course. Maybe if I'd done it before Morocco the outcome would have been different What's next? As it's such a great long distance car I've decided to take it to Greece later this month. We keep our boat out there and need to take out some stuff so have decided to make a road trip out of it over two weeks. I can't wait

I used to work in Marlow which had width restriction bollards at each end of the bridge (they've been removed now, so it's just a kerb instead which is bad but not quite as bad). In theory, they were 2m at both ends of the bridge, but I discovered that these could be adjusted (and had been adjusted) so that one end was wider. This meant that vehicles slightly wider than 2m could get on the bridge, but couldn't get off the other side...I had to help take them off at the narrower end because a Land Rover towing a trailer with a bull in it had got through one end of the

Writing the title made me wonder how many rear engined coupes have existed. I got 911 (obviously), some Alpines, Delorean, Fiat / Abarth versions of the 850. There must be more. But this is none of those. Its Japanese, made in the '80s and sold here in reasonable numbers. But they are now firmly in the category of 'rare but nobody gives a st'. And only a handful remain. It's a car I've had a yearning to own and got outbid on one at auction many years ago. More recently I contacted a seller on FB, we agreed a price and then he blocked me...So I broke the first rule of car buying and bought one s

I'm debating what I do with a speedo conversion. Plus point with the Lockwood is you get mph and kph whereas converting it on the CAN leaves you with mph only. Or I could just leave it in Km. I'm fairly used to doing it in my head that way around. Of course, there was an incident in the Forester where I forgot it was converted and I took it up to an indicated 100 thinking 'this feels strangely fast'
