Just read the whole thread from start to finish and thoroughly enjoyed it.Seemingly a challenging car to own, but for a man with your capabilities certainly more of an option than a ham fisted git such as myself. Please keep updating the thread, I have bookmarked it now.
Mr Tidy said: Fantastic thread! Some really impressive spannering and fettling with track action is a great combination. I share your pain with birds hitching a ride, although it was a pheasant on the A43 for me. Two more have caused issues since, but they both fell off. Yea it was not Ideal, Fortunately other than a bit of a dent in the front numberplate (which is dead anyway as i put it on squiffy and as its aluminium its removal will be destructive, no issues that could not be resolved with a greasy rag.jimmyjimjim said: Thank you for clarifying that the floor tiles were not your choice.Bad luck with Mr magpie; hopefully he's not buggered up anything. At some point she will go and see her sister and i think the chisel will come out.dscam said: Fabulous thread! What a great car to own and I share all the other envy of your abilities to diagnose, fix and manufacture things at home. It s been an eye-opener into some of the issues with the 12C and perhaps surprising how poorly executed some details are from the factory. Also, given the documented dealer/specialist servicing the various bodges you uncovered are both disappointing and alarming. That has made for great reading in your efforts and getting the car where it should be and I hope it continues to reward you for the effort you are lavishing on it.I think you have to remember its quite an old car at this point, 14 years in my case. The general build quality and materials are basically all there and they are like nothing else to drive, but time and wear take a toll on rubber bits etc and there were revisions made in the later models thats solved some of the earlier weaker points. These are far more minor than most would like to believe but things like the suspension top mounts were completely changed in the 650 (95% of any p11 car , 650/675/P1 will be transferable to a 12c and drivetrain wise all the 3.8's are much of a muchness, including the 4.0 really as its just more CC)trails said: Those wheels look love

Romeford said: Thank you. Mrs Romeford has accepted that she now has to share me! I think she could easily be a rust bucket or a pristine example. It's down to me where she ends up and I get to learn spanners! I do wonder what she will be like when all the jobs are done! Is this Mrs Romeford or Francesca you’re now referring to? …….

Glad you're ok, and a warm welcome to the 'Small car vs Mercedes 4x4' club. Membership is now 2 of us . I was in my Smart Fortwo and got rear ended by a Mercedes ML. Hopefully the Twizy is fixable.

Next up, we can't go past Switzerland without hitting some passes:https://maps.app.goo.gl/UdFDabEdEW6LpAdr8We leave Bolzano and suck up single lane Italian life. There are heaps of Apple orchards as we go further up into the mountains with some funny little tractors pulling apple carts going the other direction. We laugh. Then a less funny little tractor pulling apples pulls out in front of us and proceeds to do 30kph and it's way to busy to get past him. We don't laugh. Up the top of whatever traffic clogged pass this is there's the sight we've come for. "Luigi, you gonna be in a lotta troubl
