증상
브레이크를 밟을 때 삑삑거리고 쌕쌕거리는 소음 발생. 주차 중에는 소리 없음. 주행 중 속도와 관계없이 브레이크 작동 시 시작됨. 브레이크에서 발을 떼도 소음 지속되지만 음량은 낮아짐. 고음의 '칩' 소리가 바퀴 회전 속도와 동기화됨. 소음의 높낮이가 브레이크 압력과 밀접하게 연동됨. 대형 트럭의 시가지 급정거 소음과 유사.
처리 내용
마모된 브레이크 패드로 보입니다. 최근에 브레이크 패드를 확인해보셨나요? 브레이크 패드에는 웨어 탭(wear tab)이 장착되어 있으며, 이것은 패드가 위험한 수준으로 마모되기 전에 소음을 내도록 설계되었습니다. 패드가 충분히 마모되면 이 탭이 로터와 지속적으로 접촉하여 거의 항상 주행 중 소음이 발생합니다. 먼저 브레이크 패드의 상태를 확인해보시길 강력히 권장합니다. 패드 상태가 양호하면 로터에 무언가 걸려서 문지르고 있지 않은지 확인하세요. 때로는 로터 뒤의 리어 실드가 손상되어 로터와 문질러질 수 있습니다. 화이팅!

2010 Toyota Matrix 수동, 1.8L 기본형. 후륜 브레이크 교체 중 발견: 내측 패드가 심하게 마모되어 각도가 붙음 - 허브 쪽이 베어 메탈까지 닳음, 외측 패드는 정상 균등 마모. 슬라이드 핀은 정상, 러버 부시와 부츠 교체함. 캘리퍼를 분해했으나 실린더와 피스톤에 마모나 녹 없음. 스퀘어컷 씰과 부츠 교체함.

1994 올즈모빌 앞 로터와 캘리퍼를 교체했으나 패드는 그대로 두었음. 로터에 녹이 슬어있고 주행 후에도 녹이 남아있음. 패드가 로터에 닿지 않는 것으로 의심됨. 제동력 부족 - 브레이크 페달 감이 좋지 않음.
