I currently drive a P530 autobiography- most comfortable, most capable car I have ever owned. The BMW v8 suits it perfectly. We live in an area with harsh winters, unpaved potted roads and where 4x4 capability is needed. Very similar scenery to the one in the photos. I can’t think of anything less appropriate than an electric powertrain. Electric power goes down during heavy storms - how do we recharge ? Cold winter months means battery performance goes down. And the nearest charging station might be 100 km away. An electric car built for the rugged outdoors is a contradiction

And the nearest charging station might be 100 km away. An electric car built for the rugged outdoors is a contradiction If the weather is that bad how likely are you going to need to drive 200-300 miles anyway? This car isn't built for the rugged outdoors, that's what they want you to think, nobody except eccentric billionaires is taking a £200k blinged up Range Rover through quarries and swamps etc.In any case, you're firmly in the 0.1% of extreme case uses and plenty of other choice is available. For the 99.9% of the rest of the world an electric powertrain of decent power and refinement is absolutely the most appropriate for reliable everyday driving in this typical use case for this vehicle.Edited by PistonTim on Wednesday 21st October 13:38 Ironically though, the RR EV would actually be fine for his use case. It would actually be better. The EV has some very clever new Traction Control which meas it's traction and stability in winter is considerably better and more refined than the ICE equivalent, the battery is intentionally tested for capability down to -40deg, and whilst range is affected, a 200km round trip to the nearest town (if that's the implication) would be absolutely fine....and the car would be 100% charged before you left....and wouldn't need to do the 100km drive to get fuel. People try so hard to claim they are an edge case and couldn't have an EV, but the reality in 2026 is that even the edge cases would largely be more than likely able to live with an

The battery within that car is owned by the lender and forms an integral part of the collateral for that debt. Ach, no. You could say the same about any other part of the car - engine, gearbox, carpets, seat bolsters, whatever - and batteries look like being a lot longer lasting than many of the things in a car that many people can comprehensively ruin within three years. You don't get any lease company saying you can't smoke in your car, be 30st, or no

Useful update and great you're enjoying itMany will tell you to get the gearbox serviced, my zf8 is on easy motorway 160k and not bothered, and the car will soon depart so I don't care My sos battery went at 5 yrs so to save a trip to the garage and an annoying warning I'd get that done, tpms sensors last 5-7 years in my experience so could be good preventative measure

Well the AMG went and the Shark 6 has arrived. It was a better choice for me to be honest, with wanting to go into the dunes (see later on in the post how that went, rookie error) and for putting the kids bikes in etc etc - The long warranty and at the price they are it was a no brainer. So I had never head of this until moving to Dubai a few months back, test drove one and it was quicker than the previous Raptor I trialled so it now had my interest. It has a monstrous Chinese 1.5 powerhouse and dual electric motors. Combined power: 436 hpCombined torque: 650 Nm0-100 km/h: 5.7 secondsTop speed
