He says many times he is not a people person (sincere modesty - I would walk over coals to have him as a mate) but you can see he absolutely cares ABOUT people, which can totally mess with your head when working in an industry where people are just faces or names and are disposable when the paying public no longer turn up to see those faces or read those names.It is why I can't be bothered with rent-a-face presenters and celebrities (McGuiness, Katherine Ryan, Romesh etc.) because there is no passion for their craft and their drive is just to remain in the public consciousness.
