Excellent write up and your car looks FANTASTIC ! I've always hankered after one and actually called about a couple last year but got diverted and bought another early 911. Your write ups give a real world view on ownership and are excellent reading. You'll love Classic Le Mans, I've been quite a few times, a couple of years ago we were sitting outside a restaurant in Arnage village, eating chips and watching the cars go by ( a well renowned spot and a must do for your visit ) when the German Viper club came past, fourteen of them in a row, one of the best sights I've ever seen !Have a great
Thanks chapsNow safely back from Le Mans with some more little details completed and some other jobs now to do.I picked up a proper Viper key from eBay USA. It was expensive but so much better than the generic Chrysler/Jeep ones that came with the car. Managed to get some spare rear window keys too. It looks like a basic locker key but the thickness is wrong. Turns out it's shared with a Mack truck (of course) so a set of 4 set me back £15 from USA. Still nice insurance since I only had one and the way to get into the car with a dead battery is to remove the rear window and pull the manual door release. The door openers are electric, a bit like a TVR.The most expensive pieces of plastic arrived to finish my hard top refurb, these little bolt covers were $20! I also replaced the rear window seal. The factory one was badly perished and when washing the car it was obviously unserviceable. There's an after market 1 piece seal for $180 before shipping but it seems the fitment is poor and most people trim it down. I decided to use a generic cinch seal. It was a bit tedious to massage into place but it's a great fit and seals the rear window nicely. I chose to have the join at the top centre so it can't really be seen behind the high level brake light and won't leak. There have been occasional sightings of a red first gen in the area and imagine my surprise to see it in a car showroom only 2 miles from my house. I happened to be passing by in my car and pulled in. It was a funny encounter, the car belongs to the business owner and he said he'd been waiting for me. Apparently people keep calling him up asking about the black Viper but he hadn't seen it yet. I was able to tell friends I knew where the red one was too! It was a very, very early car being a 1992. It was interesting seeing the differences up close and what a coincidence to have another car so local. Before Le Mans I bought some cheap duffle bags which could fit into the boot and get persuaded in

Romeford said: Thank you. Mrs Romeford has accepted that she now has to share me! I think she could easily be a rust bucket or a pristine example. It's down to me where she ends up and I get to learn spanners! I do wonder what she will be like when all the jobs are done! Is this Mrs Romeford or Francesca you’re now referring to? …….

Glad you're ok, and a warm welcome to the 'Small car vs Mercedes 4x4' club. Membership is now 2 of us . I was in my Smart Fortwo and got rear ended by a Mercedes ML. Hopefully the Twizy is fixable.

Next up, we can't go past Switzerland without hitting some passes:https://maps.app.goo.gl/UdFDabEdEW6LpAdr8We leave Bolzano and suck up single lane Italian life. There are heaps of Apple orchards as we go further up into the mountains with some funny little tractors pulling apple carts going the other direction. We laugh. Then a less funny little tractor pulling apples pulls out in front of us and proceeds to do 30kph and it's way to busy to get past him. We don't laugh. Up the top of whatever traffic clogged pass this is there's the sight we've come for. "Luigi, you gonna be in a lotta troubl
