The problem with late-ish Top Gear and the Grand Tour was that it became too same-ish and predictable with the trio being set some sort of challenge somewhere nice, being given three cars to do it, a team of mechanics available to modify the cars in silly ways, and then things going wrong for one or more of them.Flogging and dead horses spring to mind.I'm also getting bored of seeing reviews of expensive and likely unobtainable cars being flogged mercilessly around a track as some sort of test: how is that relevant?I'm old enough to remover (and actually liked) the William Woollard days that some other programmes managed to do fairly well, programmes like Fifth Gear.But the trouble will inevitably be that producers will want it to have the glory days viewing figures and they'll simply regurgitate the same old same old.I might watch an episode of the new Grand Tour - has it started yet? - to see if they're actually doing something relevant.
