Most radio doesn't conform to this model, being driven by ad revenue and repetitive playlists, but that's a problem with those stations rather than the medium itself.Pirate radio drove whole music scenes that wouldn't have got a look in on streaming services as those services are corporate and global, so alongside the reduction of night life venues, I do worry that new and exciting genres of music aren't going to get the chance to develop as they once did.
