dai1983 said: As mentioned on the other thread I messaged about this but wanted to do a deal with it minus the engine and gearbox but don't think they were interested in that.I'd have put a 1.5 mx5 engine and gearbox in as I thought 130bhp or 150bhp with a remap would be sufficient especailly as the mx5 can nudge 50mpg and is twice the weight. Dimensions for the ND gearbox are hard to find. I know the NA/B box fits these but the NC doesn't.The old school bonnet looks nicer but would keep whatever fits easier. Lemans is better than vents and random bulges.Anyway bought a Spire GTR project with
Got abit done yesterday and today. I'm super happy now been stressing about getting to this point bout it's turned out really well. Fora order was to make sure the cross bar was true so tacked in a support to make sure it's still parallel. Bit of a dogs dinner but this will all be Hidden under the body hence me going sideways rather than up and over. Probably could have done this by channelling then bar in hindsight but quite happy with the end result. Pas foot well is a little tight to be fair it's actually better than I'm making out in this picture Sealed the foot well up too as I could see day light though the end panels. Id quite like this one to be water tight. Drivers side is where I need to be super tight to the bell housing I can't spare any space and my size 12s need to fit in the pedal box. Little test fit of the engine again. This is pretty much where I started of with it to make the engine mounts this morning. Got the front ones together and sat the engine down so I could still move it around. I was going to tack these and take them home to Tig , bit my impatience got the better of me. And ended up getting MIG'ed so I could keep going. Next step was the gearbox mount. I decided to mod the honda mount that came with the engine. It's an big chinky thing with harmonic weights on. Like this I forgot to photo it before I attacked it with a death wheel. Put another bar in and some tabs. That's an escort inner tca bush kindly donated by the other car. If you're new to my threads you will soon realise Im fricking useless with the camera and rembeming to take photos. So this all you get of the gearbox mount! Next step was getting all the welds finished and few more supports and diagonals inPut a extra bit of steel here just to make fitting the new tunnel skins easier. Then put the engine back in , annoyingly the gearbox support is just a touch to close that makes mess it's a slight faff putting the engine in out on my own, as I can just drop the

I think it would be nice to keep this thread going, for convenience if nothing else!Congrats on the purchase, that's mega! I've been eyeing up the RS now the 599 is out of my budget, but ooft they're spenny. If the gear ratios really are that long, I believe there's a short ratio diff that can be fitted?I wish you many happy miles

I think our 1.1 with similar mileage, five gears and fuel injection was under £500, although that was nearly 10 years ago.I remain on the lookout for an AX Salsa like I learned to drive in. 3 door, 1.1 litre, 5 speed.
