Nice buy - the saloon definitely looks much better than the coupe because of the rear arches. I particularly like them on the 260M wheels.Totally agree that the engine is the party piece and the noises it makes on downshifts with the DCT. I still massively regret not buying my uncles E90 and going ahead with the M140i purchase

The E46 was always my favourite shape of M3 and I think perhaps still edges it, but the E90 just looks better and better as time passes. That V8 engine is something else too, there's just something extra special about the E6x M5 and E9x M3 getting a fully bespoke M engine that was designed from the ground up for these cars.I second the comments around the extra wheel as a spare. I do exactly that on my E91 with non-RFT tyres - whenever I go on a long trip I have a full-size wheel strapped down in the boot. I've thankfully never needed to use it, but its reassuring to know that if I get a puncture in the middle of nowhere at 2am I can just swap the wheel over and carry on with my journey as normal. The rest of the time I carry a space saver spare, which is fine in a pinch but it's less than half the width of a standard tyre (which would be interesting on an M3!) and limited to 50 MPH. Bear in mind you'll need to carry a jack and tools to remove the wheel bolts if you go down this route. There's room for them under the boot floor of a 335i, not sure about an M3 with the larger exhaust back box underneath. I only suggested keeping the wheel as a spare because I carry a full-size spare in my Z4M because I go to Scotland 2 or3 times a year and wouldn't fancy trying to source a tyre somewhere like Applecross or Ullapool. A space-saver is limited to 200 miles so not much use and I wouldn't want to spend a couple of days getting an RAC recovery in relays! I got a jack from an E46 as it fits the jacking points perfectly, chuck in a breaker bar and torque wrench and it's good to go. Not much boot space though.Yeah I've always liked a saloon, for me the

I think it would be nice to keep this thread going, for convenience if nothing else!Congrats on the purchase, that's mega! I've been eyeing up the RS now the 599 is out of my budget, but ooft they're spenny. If the gear ratios really are that long, I believe there's a short ratio diff that can be fitted?I wish you many happy miles

I think our 1.1 with similar mileage, five gears and fuel injection was under £500, although that was nearly 10 years ago.I remain on the lookout for an AX Salsa like I learned to drive in. 3 door, 1.1 litre, 5 speed.
