Thought I d drop a quick thread on my latest addition to the driveway. I wasn't initially in the market for a new car, having recently acquired an M3 Touring - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...However, after starting a new job and smashing through 6,000 miles in just 4 months, plus regularly needing to leave a car at an overnight train station car park in York, I needed something to bridge the mileage gap. I joined Bentley as a contractor through my own consultancy to develop the rear lighting for the Torcal in December 2023.There was no rear design, the previous more traditional Bentley front and rear ends were binned off by the new exterior design director (ex skoda/audi) guy called Domen. Ten-twelve years ago when electric cars first started coming on the scene seriously (Nissan Leaf, Tesla Model S etc) all the talk was how skateboard architecture would give car designers so much more freedom of expression.Instead, everything moved towards these bland, egg-shaped squashed SUV shapes. This is much more what I had hoped EVs would look like in 2026.

I actually ordered one of these but cancelled at the last minute (after it was in the country and registered) as I got into a GT4 instead.They're really good fun and the B58 engine is genuinely astonishing for a turbo unit.Overall things that put me off:Felt a bit cheap/ordinary inside, for the money (and I was coming out of a 370Z Nismo)The pedals are massively offset to the rightThe test drive in the GT4... which wasn't the Supra's faultI've 'lost' more in depreciation on the GT4 than I would have on the Supra, by the looks of it!

Unique interior colours, I like it. Back in the day, there was no YouTube to get your supercar fix, the best we could do was a cassette on the front cover of Fast Lane magazine. Stumbled across the 1990 edition recently on YT, which included a 959, Countach, Vantage and Lister 7-litre. Search: 'Fast Lane 1990 Track Test', if you're curious.

As you may have guessed from my username, I'm a V8 fan. Unfortunately it's been a decade since I've owned one, and it was time to rectify that! I had considered buying a Jag S Type R about 15 years ago, but the auto box put me off so I ended up with a Vauxhall Monaro instead, which I enjoyed immensely. Fast forward to earlier this year and I was considering something interesting to act as a grand tourer for a few road trips and I instantly thought of the Jag again.I spent far too long browsing Autotrader, Ebay and Pistonheads, and discovered values varied from £5k for a ropey one up to £25k

F56 great buy! I picked up a 2yr old Cooper SD in 2017 and still have it. Whoever spec'd it did a great job as its got every extra except sunroof, Harmon stereo and front parking sensors - even has adaptive cruise, LED lights and HUD!Run flats were the worse thing when I got it as it rides on the 18" alloys, dropping into a pothole would bulge the sidewalls writing off the tyre! When I swapped to normal tyres it transformed the ride quality. Putting it in 'Sport' with the adaptive dampers switching to firm does jar over rough roads surfaces.I've been buying updated maps online for it every few
