증상
2005 Toyota Tacoma 4x4에 265/65-17 타이어용 체인을 설치했는데, 체인이 타이어 안쪽 서스펜션 부품(스티어링 조인트 등)과 위험할 정도로 가까워 보임. 체인 설치 후 건조한 상태에서 확인했을 때 체인이 서스펜션과 간섭할 우려가 있음.
처리 내용
체인은 적절히 장착되면 균등하게 팽팽해야 하며, '매듭' 형태나 '불룩한 부분'이 없어야 한다. 설치 시 체인 제조사의 지시사항과 차량 제조사의 지시사항을 반드시 따를 것. 다음 두 가지를 확인하라: 1) 사용 중인 체인 사이즈가 크지 않은지 검토 - 간격이 문제라면 더 작은 사이즈 체인 고려. 2) 더 좁은 폭의 타이어 사용 검토 - 265 대신 235 같은 좁은 타이어를 사용하면 간격이 더 확보되고, 많은 차량이 겨울용 좁은 타이어를 허용하거나 권장함. 체인이 제대로 장착되고 처지거나 흔들리지 않으면, 타이어와 스티어링 조인트의 상대적 위치는 변하지 않으므로(간격은 일정하게 유지) 정상 주행 중에는 간섭하지 않아야 함.
