Something my driving instructor told me back in the early 90s and that I’ve applied with additional seconds added for poor road and weather conditions for over 3 decades.I seem to remember it being on a public service advertisement back when media was way less fragmented.So on a rainy Thursday what are your motoring mantras?

_Rodders_ said: Courtesy causes crashes. If you have right od way stop flashing people here there and everywhere. Just obey the rules of the road. Sometimes you have to wait, sometimes you have right of way. Our mandated driving assessments were as so many nationalities with different rules working in different countries, I remember the trainer (classroom based days before practical) saying flash of lights means “I am here” but don’t use. He’d been doing an assessment where the person being assessed, keen to show awareness & how courteous he was, flashed to a car waiting to come on as he accelerated to create a space behind him for the car, as was the norm where he was from…..
