Hi all! Bought this 540i back in March of this year and have loved getting to know it! I ve done a few easy things, removed M5 replica mirrors for the standard ones and taken off the wind deflectors as not to my personal taste. Done a Major service with gearbox fluid and fuel filter replaced, new chain tensioner and a couple of airflow sensors needed. It s currently in hibernation getting new sills, wings and a full respray and a full coolant system renewal. I ll add some progress photosEdited by rorynash96 on Sunday 7th December 20:02

That was a superb car; loved every minute of owing itThe steering wheel cost me £180 inc delivery for the re-trim; but thats with sending a spare one to them - makes life easier then tooIt's the same style as I had done in my very 1st E39 back in 2012 - slightly thicker with nappa leather top/bottom and perforated leather on the sides; Jack & Co at Royal Steering Wheels do superb work; would highly recommend them

BMW M5(E39) | HID 밸러스트 교체 | 공정 1: 최근 좌측 헤드라이트가 간헐적으로 점등하지 않음. 점등하지 않을 때 스위치를 여러 번 온오프하면 점등됨. HID 벌브라면 끊어지면 더 이상 점등되지 않을 것이므로 밸러스트가 원인으로 추정. 벌브를 좌우로 바꿔 장착해도 좌측의 상태가 여전히 좋지 않아 밸러스트가 원인임을 확정. 조사 결과 밸러스트는 전용품으로 상당히 고가. 중고도 2~3만엔대. 더 깊이 조사하면 HELLA 제품은 전압, 커넥터 등 내부 부품은 동일하고 케이스 형상만 차종별로 다른 것으로 보임.

Cheers both, that’s a really useful recommendation, I did see Sreten’s post the other day too.I have looked at similar aftermarket solutions before, but I’ve always questioned the quality and fit, but I think I’ll give one a go this time. It’s got to be better than what’s on there currently.I’m normally a bit of a stickler when it comes to genuine parts, just for the fit and finish, but I think this time I’ll give them a shot.They are rarely seen and there is always a good chance if I do go OEM, it will only take a low kerb to potentially destroy £300‘s worth of plastic….

There is a specialist on Boxsters in Sunbury that has consistently good review and has set-up his own Facebook group where he gives advice and support to help people work on the Boxster - Paul Torque Boxster. I booked in for a minor service, to have the water pump, thermostat and coolant changed and the oil pressure relief valve changed to a later spec one. Paul suggested that I get a new oil filter canister as they need changing every few changes and I didnt know when it was last changed. I can help thinking Porsche parts might be a bit cheaper if they didnt give wrap them!
