Overpriced most of these, especially the Nova.Not even luke warm as far as hot hatches go.For me the Mini looks the most interesting.

Lovely rorty little engine, but I wouldn t pay that for it. The 4AGE had an 20 valve + throttle bodies JDM derivative - had it in my Raw Striker. Have never seen one in its original Toyota setting. Around 2005 I was working for a Japanese company (DENSO) and I was visiting one of the company test tracks and needed to pass the internal company driving test to assure that I was safe to drive on the track. I did the test in a 1.3 Corolla, not going over 30 MPH and all passed OK. It came up that I raced karts and my "tester" said that if I wanted I could do the "advanced test" to which I said "why not" (getting paid to drive round a track - it would be rude to say "no" ! ) At which point we went to the handling circuit and I was presented with a manual RWD JDM Altezza RS200 with the 3S-GE 5th gen BEAMS engine; 4 cyl, 2.0l, red line at 7600 RPM and 220 BHP. At which point we hooned around the handling circuit and the high speed circuit for an hour or soThere were a whole bunch of really fun high RPM, NA JDM engines at the time with all of the OEM making them but only Honda with VTEC and Mtsubishi with MiVEC seemed to bring them out of Japan
