Lovely little cars, these are. Reminds me of a modern Toyota Starlet Glanza - not super powerful, but tune-able and lightweight, and a bit under the radar compared to its contemporaries
xu5 said: Now that I am satisfied that I don't want to take power levels any further, (~220bhp/ton?) I am going to do a few weight saving modifications. I was keen to get it dynoed until I was quoted £120 +vat for a power run! Sure it was about half that not too long ago, or am I being stingey? Torque GT have ordered a non-vented carbon bonnet for me from R's Racing Service in Japan. Should be 5kg saved from fairly high up and over the front. An expensive way to save weight but, meh, whatever. Not sure if I will paint it or clear coat it, erring towards clear coat I think.ETA on the bonnet is April which might give me time to think of an excuse for the missus of why I needed it. Current thinking is the weight saving in fuel will mean the bonnet will easily pay for itself within 500,000 miles.Next on the list is a LiFePo4 battery from Deadweight Industries. Another 10-15kg from the front. The oem battery would have to be kept for winter use as the Lithium battery does not respond well to charging in negative temperatures. When I was choosing my new wheels I had to be mindful of brake caliper clearance as not all 15's will clear the fronts. I am also keen on upgrading the front brakes to two piece rotors and fixed Aluminium 4 pot calipers. The kit I have my eye on from PB Brakes would keep the disc size the same but with Aluminium centre hat and replace the iron sliding caliper with fixed Aluminium calipers with roughly the same pad size. While ultimate stopping power shouldn't change, I don t need it to, it should give a better feel and bite over the sliding calipers and save a kilogram or 2 of unsprung mass per side.Going back to my mx5 days this was frequently referred to as a "little" Big Brake conversion. I can vouch the Deadweight Industries battery as I have one in my little Fiesta .I have run both the Touge 200 and Touge 500 and would advise the 500 if the car is for everyday duties as the 500 is good for 4 weeks + before it needs to be charged if not u

I thought I would share my Suzuki Swift Sport, the ZC33S, which I bought new at the very start of 2020.In 2019 it became clear that my MX5 1.5 ND was not going to be a long term practical solution for me and my wife as she could not comfortably drive the MX5 as her legs were too short(!). I got a little Aygo (which I fitted with a Bilstein B12 kit) to tide me over as there was nothing that took my fancy really to replace the MX5. Being a fan of lightweight sporty hatches I was looking at finding a low mileage Swift Sport ZC32S, the 1.6 na one. At this point the ZC33S 1.4 turbo came back on

Just had a bit of a recap of your thread, your Fiesta is looking like a fine machine!I see you went for fixed calipers and two piece discs on the front that saved approx 10kg, a not inconsiderable amount! Could you feel any difference form the weight saved?

It s rare I post on Ph these days, in fact it s rare I come on PH these days. I m not sure I ve ever posted in this section over the years,But ..today I was washing my Boxster S and felt the urge to share it. I ve owned it since new in September 2012 and after driving it for a month (it s been my winter daily since 2014 taxed between October and April) I m reminded what a great car it is. Yes I have more exotic cars, rarer cars and dare I say, more interesting cars. I ve got faster cars, cars that make me say Wow! when I drive them, things that look stunning and things that entertain me. But
