There's no risk to them in passing people's st plates - they can always claim the vehicle came in with legal plates and must've been changed after the MOT. Coming soon to an MoT station near you, they will take pictures of the cars they test, as tested. ETA Starting August 3, 2026, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) launched a phased national rollout requiring around 2,500 garages across Great Britain to photograph vehicles during an MOT test.
